Who was eliminated on ‘The Masked Singer’ 14? Episode 8 unmasks Eggplant as ‘General Hospital’ favorite
During ‘OzzFest Night,’ things got loud and just a little bittersweet as Season 14 Episode 8 of ‘The Masked Singer’ upped the ante. Wednesday night’s episode on Fox leaned all the way into rock royalty, saluting the one and only Ozzy Osbourne. There were leather pants, electric guitars, and smoke. And somewhere in the middle of all that mayhem stood Eggplant, who would soon find himself packing up his purple cape for good. So who was the man inside that foam veggie suit? It was none other than Jack Wagner. Yes, the familiar face from ‘General Hospital’ and ‘Melrose Place,’ who’s been a staple of TV romance arcs for decades.
The night kicked off with a group performance that featured Pangolin, Eggplant, High Voltage, and Galaxy Girl charging into ‘Crazy Train,’ arguably Ozzy’s most recognizable anthem. And then the competition began. By the end of the episode, Eggplant and High Voltage found themselves in the bottom two. Both contestants were handed ‘Iron Man’ and told to make it their own. Eggplant's performance had heart, but sometimes heart alone doesn’t cut it. When the votes were counted, High Voltage lived to sing another day. Eggplant did not.
And just like that, Wagner’s run on Season 14 came to an end. Interestingly, the panelists were all over the place with their guesses. Ken Jeong threw out names like Rick Springfield, which at least landed in the soap-adjacent territory. Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg guessed Kevin Cronin. Rita Ora floated Nathan Lane, while Robin Thicke guessed Kenny Loggins. Guest panelist Kelly Osbourne, who once competed as Ladybug in Season 2, guessed shock rocker Alice Cooper. Not a single one hit the target. For longtime fans, Wagner’s reveal was equal parts surprising and oddly fitting. The man has always had music woven into his career.
Beyond acting, he’s recorded albums, toured, and even showed off his footwork on ‘Dancing With the Stars’ back in 2012. More recently, he’s been charming viewers on ‘When Calls the Heart’ and popping up in a steady stream of Hallmark Channel films that feel like comfort food for the soul. With Eggplant now eliminated from the lineup, the remaining competitors are High Voltage, Pangolin, Galaxy Girl, Stingray, Cat Witch, Pugcasso, and Crane. Wagner now joins a growing list of unmasked celebrities this season, including Heidi Montag, Billy Ray Cyrus, Teddi Mellencamp, Claudia Oshry, Taraji P. Henson, Tone Loc, Tiffany Haddish, Todd and Julie Chrisley, and David “Big Papi” Ortiz.
