Who is Maddox? Fans welcome singer at Ateez's European tour: ‘You mean the Masked Man’

Ateez's labelmate Maddox is a singer and producer who has worked with the K-pop boy group in the past

It looks like postponing Ateez’s European leg of their second world tour was a blessing in disguise. The K-pop group added three more dates due to an immense demand for the sold-out world tour. Ateez is now touring Europe for the ‘The Fellowship: Beginning of the End’ concert at huge arenas with an average of 20K seating capacity like Wembley, Accor, and Mercedes-Benz arenas. And they also have a special guest with them -- their labelmate Maddox.

Older Atinys (Ateez’s fans) know that Maddox is much loved by the boy group as he works closely with them in producing their songs. The fandom first got a glimpse of him when he started making appearances in the production vlogs of Ateez’s leader and producer Hongjoong. But Maddox is also a singer himself. The 27-year-old British-Korean artist debuted in 2019 under KQ Entertainment with his single ‘But Maybe’.

Who is Maddox?

However, since 2018, Maddox has been working with KQ’s production team which includes Eden and Ateez. He has participated in several of Ateez’s comebacks as composer, producer, and narrator as Atinys will be familiar with his voice in the group’s VCR clips and teasers. This has also led fans to have an inside joke that he might be the Masked Man that Ateez fought in their music videos’ storyline. Well, Maddox has been performing with Ateez since their first stop in Madrid for their European tour. He ended up trending worldwide for his stage at Accor in Paris which was the biggest venue yet for Ateez’s concert.

‘We love you’

Fans welcomed Maddox and hyped up his solo stage as one fan tweeted, “Maddox truly has the voice of an angel so glad he’s getting to showcase his talent to a 20k people crowd.” Another shared, “It was genuinely a lot of fun and super awesome to be able to meet him! He's so cool, it's easy to tell why he's so liked by ATEEZ.” With Ateez’s storyline being about the boys fighting against the Masked Man, many joked Maddox was the one playing the antagonist, “You mean the masked man.”

One Atiny commented, “Maddox this is ALL for you.” Another fan added, “MADDOX WE LOVE YOU!!!” A French Atiny who saw him in Paris said, “It shows he was so touched I'm so happy he's really a small boi.” One Atiny said, “Maddox just expressed how grateful he is for everyone showing him love during the tour 🥺he did state that he’s aware that people mainly paid to see ateez and that he hopes he didn’t make anyone feel uncomfortable :( please shower him with love and tell him that he did well!”

He also went Live with Hongjoong on May 5 to thank fans for their support to which one fan said, “Maddox you’re amazing, own it king! ♥️ also I love their relationship it’s so precious.” Another fan added, “I seriously considered booking a plane ticket to one of the Europe shows just to see Maddox after seeing that he went to Spain 😭 I wish he could know how much Atinys love him and appreciate his work.”
