As a K-pop group gets bigger so does their fandom. But this means more and more toxic fans are found. Atinys (Ateez’s fandom) who pride themselves, especially in being respectful of Ateez, are upset with some of the latest shenanigans of such toxic fans that Wooyoung has had to call them out twice.

Previously, we had some stalkers attaching a location tracking device to Ateez’s vehicles while many have been calling the youngest member, Jongho on his mobile phone. Jongho was, in fact, on live with Wooyoung when he got the prank calls. The older member fiercely reprimanded these fans while Jongho revealed that while it looked like he didn’t mind it, he was disturbed. Wooyoung has once again spoken up to such fans, this time protecting the oldest member, Seonghwa.

Wooyoung calls out fans sending hate to Seonghwa

Bubble and UNIVERSE, two paid K-pop messaging apps have led to fans feeling they’re entitled to how idols behave since they’re investing money in these K-pop acts. Previously, EXO’s D.O., Red Velvet’s Joy and NCT’s Jaehyun were slammed for ridiculous reasons. Now, some of the mean comments on UNIVERSE being targeted at Ateez's Seonghwa were regarding his personally-designed merch for his birthday which they claimed was expensive. Other Atinys pointed out the absurdity of them paying an exorbitant amount for an app to send hate to Seonghwa. Well, Wooyoung has come to his rescue.

Wooyoung wrote, “I will tell you one last time…I know it’s better for my mental health to not care about things like this but please speak nicely in [the app]. Since we’re also human, we see the bad comments faster than the good comments.” He assured concerned fans that it wasn’t about him but about Seonghwa. He added, “If you touch [Seonghwa] hyung, you die…I’m gonna bite you like a dog *ang*.” It looks like he tried to end the message cutely so as to be polite.

'So thankful to Wooyoung'

Seonghwa too came online to explain that he had spent three months thinking about his merch design and just wanted to make something special for the fans. Atinys are retaliating by slamming the fans who made Wooyoung and Seonghwa leave such messages in the first place. One fan tweeted, “Seonghwa mentioned that he spent around 3 months contemplating about his MD and that he had lots of thoughts/questions during the process of making it. he thought about what atiny would like more rather than what HE would like if the price isnt for u no one is forcing u buying it.”

Another Atiny posted, “If u subscribed to any member‘s pm and u say bad things to them or about other members, I hope you know that you are the worst kind of person on this planet. as wooyoung said, they are humans with feelings just like us, just because they’re idols doesn’t mean it won’t hurt them.” One fan wrote, “So thankful to wooyoung for warning those 'fans' who crossed their lines. he never stays silent on serious issues and tries to protect himself and his members. some of u are getting real comfortable overstepping boundaries pls know your limits, never forget they're not ur friends.” Another Atiny commented, “Me showing up at the front door of that person who messed with my boy…”
