The latest dance challenge in the K-pop industry has led to all kinds of hate and cyberbullying. TikTok and Instagram have become the easiest and most fun way for idols to promote their songs as they create challenges based on their newest release. These challenges in turn are done by fans and idols as well. And you know it has gone viral when it also reaches the locals as seen in the case of Blackpink Lisa’s ‘Money’ and Treasure’s ‘Darari’. But the latest dance trend, Jay Park’s ‘Ganadara’ challenge, has fans torn.

Jay Park’s latest single ‘Ganadara’ which also features none other than the ‘Nation’s Sweetheart’ IU has gone viral on K-pop Twitter. But it may not be for all the right reasons. The R&B artist roped in idol friends like GOT7’s Jay B, (G)I-DLE’s Soyeon, Seventeen’s Vernon, Hoshi and more to dance to the Instagram challenge. But it created a negative buzz when his next guest turned out to be Ateez’s Mingi.

Fans ask Mingi to stay away from Jay Park

While Knetizens mostly leave Jay Park alone, international K-pop fans do not like him. In the past, he has been embroiled in a couple of scandals like cultural appropriation. While he has not been intentionally racist and apologized for his mistakes, POC fans do not care for him. Some even go to the extent of trying to keep their favorite idols away from Jay Park. And that is what happened in Mingi’s case. Atinys (Ateez’s fandom) were majorly unhappy with Jay Park getting Mingi on the ‘Ganadara’ challenge.

It should be noted that Mingi has shared that one of his favorite artists is Jay Park. Some fans were happy that he finally got to meet his role model and to also dance with him. But the ones who were more vocal were the ones who did not support the collaborative Instagram challenge and spammed the comment section where they asked Mingi to stay away from Jay Park. But it looks like it might have affected the Ateez rapper since Jay had to come online to reprimand such users.

Jay Park reprimands fans

On March 23, Jay Park asked fans not to take out their hate for him on other idols. He tweeted, “Whether ppl like it or not i inspire alot of their favorite idols. just cause they cheer me on doesnt mean you should take it out on them. If your a fan you shouldnt bully the person your a fan of.  Think bout how that makes them feel.” He also said that if anyone wanted to send hate, they could do it on his page since he was used to it. Jay Park added that he had also checked in on Mingi and he was alright.
