Who is High Voltage on ‘The Masked Singer’ Season 14? Cryptic ‘Grease’ clue points towards one iconic star
Season 14 of ‘The Masked Singer’ is officially rolling. And with it comes a new lineup of extravagant costumes, cryptic hints, and wildly confident guesses from both the panel and fans at home. Episode 2 marked the first full competitive showcase of the season. However, instead of head-to-head battles, the hour focused on five solo performances. With extended performances and clue packages, the guessing game kicked into high gear, and no character sparked more debate than High Voltage. He delivered one of the most refined performances of the night with a smooth rendition of Tears for Fears’ ‘Everybody Wants to Rule the World.’
His vocals were controlled, confident, and unmistakably professional, only fueling speculation that he is someone with serious performance experience. Visually, the character looked 'electrifying'. High Voltage’s costume is sleek and futuristic, anchored by a glowing lightning-bolt symbol across his chest. The helmet resembles a high-powered energy core, while exposed wires and plug-like accents can be seen all over the body. The clues, however, have been anything but straightforward. In his introductory package, High Voltage said that, “When I first began my career, the idea of blending in was my biggest fear.”
Two lightning-bolt “Z” symbols with a “V” beneath them were prominently displayed, though their meaning remains unclear. Two cans labeled “Grease” also appeared, which was also considered a big hint. Additional hints only complicated the mystery. High Voltage spoke about wanting to be a “leader” in his field, then dramatically stepped on a giant red button that lit up a map of the United States. A fuse box featuring a bald eagle reinforced a patriotic theme, followed by the bold statement that he’s been called 'a patriot, a revolutionary, changing the fabric of American culture.' A coffee mug decorated with a world map suggested global recognition or influence beyond U.S. borders.
One of the most talked-about clues came during the Knoxville challenge segment. Robin Thicke had to reach into a box containing a tarantula to retrieve a hint, which turned out to be the phrase “Rose Bowl.” Thicke floated the idea that the singer could be a tall, iconic late-night figure, such as Conan O’Brien. Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg took a different approach, zeroing in on the word “patriot” and guessing former NFL and New England Patriots star Julian Edelman. However, according to Parade, Edelman never played in the ‘Rose Bowl’, casting doubt on that theory. Online, viewers immediately latched onto the repeated “Grease” references, the confident vocals, and the High Voltage name itself.
Those clues have sparked speculation about someone tied to pop culture and music, with John Travolta emerging as a popular fan theory. While the Rose Bowl hint doesn’t neatly fit that narrative, the combination of star power, musical ability, and cultural impact has kept his name in the conversation. Meanwhile, so far this season, several identities have already been revealed. According to Variety, they include David “Big Papi” Ortiz as Googly Eyes, Todd and Julie Chrisley as the Croissant duo, and Tiffany Haddish as Le Who Who. With High Voltage still safely masked, the intrigue around his identity is only growing.
