Who is Gloria Hampton? 'Dance Moms: A New Era' new coach was star of '70s talent show
LOUDOUN COUNTY, VIRGINIA: 'Dance Moms: A New Era' new coach Gloria Hampton is all set to replace her rival Abby Lee Miller in the reboot show. Gloria is an award-winning dancer from Northern Virginia with an experience of more than 40 years.
She majored in dance at Towson State University and trained with legends jazz legend Gus Giordano, as well as Frank Hatchett, Joe Tremaine and Charles Kelly. Besides 'Dance Moms', coach Glo has starred in a talent-based TV show in the 70's, 'Stuff'. Her dance credits also include the World Expo in Australia and shoe shows for Reebok.
Coach Glo opened her own dance studio in 1994 which soon hit the success and became one of the top in the country. However, she sold her studio after 15 years with the hopes of expanding her successful career. She has won the award for Best Dance Instructor in Loudoun County, VA and was recently named Teacher of the Year, a coveted title representing the Star Dance Alliance.
Gloria Hampton's students have performed in 'West Side Story'
'Dance Moms: A New Era' coach Gloria Hampton's students carried on her success and have worked with some of the prestigious companies and notable places. Gloria's dance studio alumni performed at the American Ballet Theatre, Alvin Ailey, Houston Ballet, Ballet West, Stuttgart Ballet, Nashville Ballet, and Giordano Dance Chicago.
Meanwhile, Coach Glo's other students were seen on numerous Broadway shows including 'Hamilton'. Coach Glo's dancers have also been seen in Steven Spielberg's motion picture rendition of 'West Side Story' and the hit television shows 'So You Think You Can Dance' and 'World of Dance'.
Gloria Hampton aims to win nationals in 'Dance Moms: A New Era'
'Dance Moms: A New Era' will be filled with drama and emotional breakdowns as it follows a brand-new group of dancers and moms at Glo's Studio Bleu dance school. Pressure at the studio is all-time high as Coach Glo aims to win a national dance competition.
In the teaser of the upcoming Hulu show, Coach Glo told her students, "In six short weeks, we're going to Nationals." She added, "We are in no way ready for that." She further claimed in the preview, "My one and only goal is the win a National title and it starts today."
The dance coach prepared her students for the competition and, to "make everyone realize who the next big team is." The students also realized the seriousness of the competition and admitted in the confessional, "I have to prove myself to Ms Glo."
'Dance Moms: A New Era' premieres on Hulu on Wednesday, August 7.
