Who are The Croissants on ‘Masked Singer’ Season 14? Breaking down the prison and ‘second chance’ clues
'The Masked Singer' made up for its long hiatus by premiering the fourteenth season with characteristic pomp and show. If there's one thing that the FOX mystery musical consistently gets right, it is its choice of contestants. All previous seasons of 'The Masked Singer' have featured an eclectic range of contestants from diverse backgrounds, and the most recent installment is no exception. This season ups the ante, with bigger names and masks more decorated than ever.
Several masked contestants took to the stage to dish out their musical performances. They were judged by the panel comprising Robin Thicke, Ken Jeong, Rita Ora, and Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg. The format of the premiere night was unique in itself, as described by ComingSoon.net. The ten contestants were grouped in pairs, with the top performer from each duo proceeding to the next round. The remaining contestants would then join the 'usual suspects' clan, who would be subject to a second round of voting, after which two out of the three would be eliminated.
The Croissants, as was evident from their extravagant costumes, stole the show. Gold Derby reports that the judges were divided in their opinion about the real identity of The Croissants. Their track was the famous Elvis Presley song 'Jailhouse Rock', which followed the audio clue that mentioned, "The upper-crust socialites living at the top, and it all came crumbling down. So, it's true. Life was good, and we were inseparable, until we were torn apart. That's right, we were cancelled, separated, and we didn't know when we'd see each other again. It was the darkest moment of our lives. Just when I thought all hope was lost, a miracle, out of nowhere, we're back! Back, and best of all, reunited. We feel everyone just had the wrong idea about us. So, we're here to change it, and rise again, together." The visual clues that followed included a breaking news alert, a mansion, newspaper headlines, and peaches.
Thicke initially believed that Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino and Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi might be the ones behind the masks. Ora uttered the names of Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt while McCarthy Wahlberg went with the names of former reality television superstars Todd and Julie Chrisley. The last guess seems to bear the maximum weight, especially since the Chrisleys were once the custodians of reality TV fame with their USA Network show 'Chrisley Knows Best'. Despite being somewhat of a tabloid royalty, the couple fell from grace after being convicted of bank fraud and federal tax evasion.
Both Todd and Julie Chrisley were given long prison sentences and were incarcerated away from each other in different states. After serving three years in prison, they were officially pardoned by President Donald Trump in May 2025, and soon after, the couple returned to reality television with their new show, 'The Chrisleys: Back to Reality'. All of this aligns perfectly with the audio and visual clues. Although The Croissants were eliminated in the premiere episode, their identities will be revealed next week. 'The Masked Singer' airs new episodes every Wednesday at 8 pm ET on FOX.
