'Daredevil: Born Again' star confirms 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' role after suprise trailer appearance
'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' has prompted fans to come up with several theories about the fate of their favorite characters. These characters are not just limited to the friendly neighborhood superheroes' world, but a multitude of shows in the massive Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The trailer reveals the current status of a character from the beloved show 'Daredevil: Born Again.' Zabryna Guevara, who plays the character in question, Sheila Rivera, confirmed her presence in the trailer with an Instagram post, captioned, "Can you spot lil ole me in this clip?"
Sheila Rivera appeared in Season 1 of 'Daredevil: Born Again,' which was released last year. In the show, she worked as a political advisor and assistant to Mayor Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin. By the end of the season, he had essentially taken control of the entire New York City. Therefore, fans were taken aback when Rivera was seen presenting the keys to the city to Spider-Man in the highly anticipated movie's trailer. It could suggest that Rivera replaces Fink as mayor, but exactly how that will unfold remains to be seen.
However, the fans would not have to wait until July 31, the release date of 'Brand New Day', to solve this mystery, as Season 2 of 'Daredevil: Born Again' is just a few days away, set to be available on March 24. Kingpin's storyline is allegedly a major focus of the upcoming season. Born Again's showrunner, Dario Scardapane, has previously shared that plans are to conclude Kingpin's Mayor storyline in the second installment. The trailer may hint at the direction the showrunners are taking this pursuit. Kingpin actor Vincent D'Onofrio is in favor of this new appointment. He loved the theory when a fan tweeted to him regarding the possible replacement. He later had to clarify that, even though he adores the idea, it doesn't mean the plotline will shape up that way.
"When replied 'I love it,' [that] was the first time I had seen anything about it; It remains to be the only [time] I have heard such a thing," D'Onofrio explained. "I'm the last person to know anything about the future of our show or any other show, for that matter. I only know about the job at hand. That is the absolute truth." It is safe to say that die-hard MCU fans are excited for both the show and the movie. 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day's' trailer has already crossed 25 million views, while Born Again has reached 8.5 million. The viewers will have to wait just a little longer to find out whether Daredevil and Spider-Man manage to rise again or whether the Kingpin emerges victorious.
