Tom Holland enlists ‘greatest fans’ to unveil ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ trailer in epic scavenger hunt
Marvel Studios just turned a trailer drop into a full-blown online treasure hunt, and the internet is buzzing with excitement. It all started when Tom Holland shared a clip on Instagram on March 17 and revealed that the trailer for ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ is on the way, but there's a twist. He hinted that the team is doing something that has “never been done before,” and that “some of our greatest fans” would play a role in unveiling glimpses of the clip. Holland tagged a Spider-Man fan account based in Peru, and that account didn’t waste any time. It dropped a blink-and-you-miss-it, two-second clip. The shot shows Spidey swinging mid-air while carrying someone. But wait, this wasn’t a one-stop reveal. That same account tagged another fan, this time from Ohio.
And like passing a baton in a relay, the next clip surfaced. This one is in a totally different tone. It features Peter Parker, without a mask or suit, collapsing on the ground. Things then picked up speed. As the day went on, more clips started trickling in, each from a different fan account, each tagging the next like a chain reaction that refused to slow down. One of the videos sees Spider-Man sprinting while putting his mask on mid-run. Another has him launching into the air. There’s even a shot that looks like it’s from inside the suit, with him peering outward through the mask.
One clip sees Parker putting the Spider-Man mask on, while another features a softer moment: Peter talking to MJ, played by Zendaya. The mayhem then resumes as he’s seen free-falling from a skyscraper in the full suit. At one point, he gets slammed by a car, and the action doesn’t stop there. One of the videos sees explosions rip through a building, while another features someone firing at him using what looks like a massive weapon. There’s a quieter beat too, where Holland’s Peter sits inside a café, staring at someone. This is followed by a public moment as Spider-Man receives a Key to the City during a ceremony, as MJ watches it happen on TV.
So far, that’s all that’s out there. While Holland didn’t spell everything out in his original post, he added, almost casually, "I will see you tomorrow morning, bright and early, in New York City.” So, it’s safe to expect that once all the snippets are out, the full trailer will land on Wednesday, March 18. Meanwhile, ‘Brand New Day’ marks Peter Parker’s return after a rather long gap. The last time audiences saw him was in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ back in 2021. He’s now finally back, and the movie is set to hit theaters on July 31.
