LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'So You Think You Can Dance' Season 18 is just around the corner! The forthcoming season of the show is set to drop on Monday, March 4, 2024, at 9 pm ET only on Fox. The winner of this season will walk away with a grand prize of $100K.

On the other hand, when we talk about the winner of 'So You Think You Can Dance' Season 17, it was none other than Alexis Warr.

Despite fantasizing about participating in the renowned dance show, she found herself grappling with trepidation when the opportunity finally arose for her to audition in 2018.

“I actually filled out the application, but I didn’t submit it because fear and insecurity crept into my brain,” Warr told Dance Magazine.

The Utah native began training in ballroom dancing at 13, using dance as a way to cope with personal struggles and find strength. By 18, she had already appeared on various television shows and toured with Derek Hough.

Despite doubts during audition season in 2019 and a pause in the show in 2020 due to the pandemic, Alexis eventually won Season 17 of 'So You Think You Can Dance' and has since relocated to Los Angeles.

Did Alexis Warr compete in 'Dancing With The Stars' Season 31?

In September 2022, Alexis was given the incredible opportunity to showcase her dancing skills on the prestigious stage of 'Dancing With The Stars' Season 31.

This opportunity arose when professional dancer Daniella Karagach, unfortunately, tested positive for Covid-19, leading Alexis to step in and take her place on the show.

It was a momentous occasion for Alexis as she embraced the challenge and dazzled audiences with her talent and passion for dance.

While having a conversation with Dance Magazine, Warr spilled the beans on her last-minute Pro Moment on 'Dancing With The Stars.'

“It was early in the morning, and I got a call from our casting director that Daniella Karagach had tested positive for Covid and I needed to step in to dance with her partner, Joe Baena," Alexis told the magazine.

Warr went on to say, "I was only able to practice the dance with Joe a couple of times, and I still had to do all of my troupe moments as well, so I was just running around frantically the whole time.”

'SYTYCD' alum Alexis Warr reveals she was bullied in high school

Throughout her time in high school, Alexis Warr was subjected to numerous instances of bullying. This constant harassment and mistreatment had a significant impact on her emotional well-being and made her daily life a struggle.

Alexis endured taunts, name-calling, and exclusion from her peers, leaving her feeling isolated and alone. The relentless bullying took a toll on her self-esteem and confidence, causing her to question her worth and place in the world.

Despite the challenges she faced, she persevered and eventually found the strength to rise above the cruelty of her tormentors.

“I had a really tough bullying situation in high school, and it got to a point where I was so low on myself that I stepped away from jazz and contemporary," Alexis shared.

"What helped me get through that was leaning on my family and trying to believe in myself in a new way. It was really a turning point, knowing that I don’t have control over others all I can focus on is how I want to carry myself and how I want to respond," she added.
