‘Masked Singer’ Season 14 just announced ‘Clueless’-themed episode but that’s not even the biggest surprise
Theatricality isn't just a mere accessory for a popular reality tv show like 'The Masked Singer' on FOX; it is the lifeblood that keeps the music mystery competition going forward. Therefore, it is only fair that 'The Masked Singer' Season 14 Episode 3 should be replete with theatricality and dramatic showdowns. As confirmed by a ScreenRant report, the upcoming episode, which airs on January 21 at 8 PM ET on FOX, will feature the thirtieth anniversary of the iconic 1995 movie 'Clueless'. That won't be all, as two of this season's biggest surprises would be unravelled on the upcoming episode as well.
'Clueless' is today considered to be a cult classic, and its popularity has only grown in the three decades since its release. The plot of the movie centres around a high school and has a fresh coming-of-age narrative direction that stars Alicia Silverstone as Cher Horowitz. The movie has been partially inspired by the famous Jane Austen novel 'Emma'. The film was written and directed by Amy Heckerling and released and distributed by Paramount Pictures. Upon its release, 'Clueless' performed well at the box office and earned $88 million worldwide in box office collections, according to Wikipedia. The rest of the film's cast included Paul Rudd, Brittany Murphy, Murray Duvall, Donald Faison, Jeremy Sisto, Stacey Dash, Justin Walker, Dan Hedaya, and Breckin Meyer.
As mentioned earlier, the next episode will present two unprecedented surprises that would mark a shift in the reality television show's programming structure. Firstly, 'Clueless' night would mark the first time 'The Masked Singer' introduces a wild card contestant, as reported by The Futon Critic. It has been announced that three wildcard contestants would be featured throughout the length of the ongoing season, ie, 14 Karat Carrot, Pangolin, and Crane.
As of this writing, we don't know which of these would be appearing in the upcoming episode, but it is known that the wildcard contestant would eventually join the rest of the group to sing a group rendition of 'Kids in America'. In addition to this, there would once again be a round of double eliminations, similar to Fear Night.
The ongoing season has so far unmasked four contestants, as the Premiere episode saw Googly Eyes unmasking before being revealed to be David Ortiz. Similarly, Cat Witch was revealed to be Kylie Cantrell. The other two to be eliminated were Le Who Who (Tiffany Haddish) and Todd and Julie Chrisley (The Croissants). It remains to be seen whether the next set of eliminations will be featured by the end of the next episode or at the beginning of the one after that. 'The Masked Singer' Season 14 is hosted by Nick Cannon with Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg, Robin Thicke, Rita Ora, and Ken Jeong in the judges' panel.
