Paramount Pictures has given fans a taste of what to expect from 'Scary Movie' 6 by unveiling the teaser poster for the upcoming parody film. The poster features a blend of Ghostface from the 'Scream' franchise and Aunt Gladys from the 2025 supernatural horror film 'Weapons.' The image features the tagline, "Aunt You Gladys I’m Back?" with the title 'Scary Movie' followed by the film's theatrical release date, June 5. The 'Weapons' antagonist, Aunt Gladys, played by Amy Madigan, became the talk of the town after she won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress on March 15. The poster, which was dropped hours after Madigan's win, is captioned, "Mad props Aunt Gladys. #Oscars #ScaryMovie."

In April 2024, Miramax announced that the next installment in the long-running parody franchise was being developed. 'Scary Movie' 6 is written by Rick Alvarez and the Wayans brothers — Marlon, Shawn, Craig, and Keenan Ivory. It is directed by Michael Tiddes, whose previous credits include 'A Haunted House' and 'A Haunted House 2.' The first trailer for the upcoming movie was released on March 2, and it gave fans a glimpse of what to expect. In keeping with the tradition of parodying popular horror titles and characters, 'Scary Movie' 6 will spoof the four-time Oscar-winning film 'Sinners,' along with 'Terrifier 3,' 'A Quiet Place,' 'Get Out,' 'Halloween,' 'Weapons,' 'M3GAN,' 'Annabelle,' 'The Substance,' the recent 'Scream' films, and others.

'Scary Movie' 6 is scheduled to release in theaters on June 5. The title will see Cindy Campbell (Anna Faris) reunite with her friends Ray Wilkins (Shawn Wayans), Shorty Meeks (Marlon Wayans), and Brenda Meeks (Regina Hall) to fight the same masked killer they encountered 26 years ago in the first film. Returning cast members include Jon Abrahams as Bobby Prinze, Dave Sheridan as Doofy Gilmore, Lochlyn Munro as Greg, Anthony Anderson as Mahalik, Cheri Oteri as Gail Hailstorm, and Chris Elliott as Hanson. They will be joined by the new cast members, Kim Wayans, Cameron Scott Roberts, Damon Wayans Jr., Olivia Rose Keegan, Gregg Wayans, Savannah Lee Nassif, Ruby Snowber, Heidi Gardner, Felissa Rose, Sydney Park, and Benny Zielke.

The comedy spoof franchise is being revived after 13 years, with the last film, 'Scary Movie 5,' having been released in theaters on April 12, 2013. Moreover, the film brings back the franchise's original creators, the Wayans brothers, who exited the film series after 'Scary Movie 2' over creative differences. Fans are excited about their involvement as they played a big role in the franchise's long-lasting popularity.
