'Reacher' Season 4 finally gets a release window as Alan Ritchson hints at more action than ever before
Some shows disappear for a while, and people barely notice, but ‘Reacher’ is not one of them. Because when the no-nonsense former military cop played by Alan Ritchson finishes one season of tossing villains across rooms, viewers almost immediately start asking the same question: “When is the next one releasing?” That question has been hanging in the balance for a while now. And there’s finally a clearer answer. While speaking with Collider during promotion for his film ‘War Machine,’ Ritchson casually dropped the update fans had been hoping to hear.
According to the actor, “We finished shooting Season 4 of ‘Reacher.’ It’s by far the best season we’ve had yet, so it’s coming. It’ll be out this year.” No precise day yet, unfortunately, but the confirmation does narrow things down quite a bit. For months, there has been plenty of guessing online. Some viewers suspected the next chapter might not arrive until 2027, but Ritchson’s comments seem to shut that door pretty firmly. The plan, at least right now, is for the show to return in 2026. That’s a relief for anyone who has been keeping an eye on release rumors. The series, based on the novels by Lee Child, has developed a devoted audience since it premiered on Prime Video.
The formula is simple but satisfying: Jack Reacher drifts into town, someone makes a terrible decision, and before long, there are broken tables, stunned criminals, and one very large man calmly walking away from the mess. But apparently, the upcoming season is aiming to raise the stakes even further, especially when it comes to action. In a previous conversation with ScreenRant, Ritchson hinted that the fourth installment might include more fight scenes than any previous run of the show. He revealed, “We shot... God, I don't even know, man. 30? We've never shot this many fights. There's so many. And it's not just that we're just going for the sake of it. I worry about fight fatigue for audiences.”
Ritchson further explained, “I watch my wife watch ‘Game of Thrones’, and I am yawning my way through it, and then the fights start. I'm like, ‘Now it's getting good’. The fights start, and she's like, ‘Oh, wake me up when the fights are done’. And I'm like, ‘What is that?’ I don't ever want somebody to disengage because they're just seeing all the fights in the world thrown on screen.” Another interesting aspect is the growing universe around the character. A spin-off series titled ‘Neagley’ is also on the way, focusing on the tough investigator played by Maria Sten. The project finished filming before Season 4 of the main show, but its premiere date hasn’t been revealed yet.
