When will ‘Scrubs’ air? ABC’s medical comedy reunites Zach Braff and Donald Faison and we're beyond excited
After being cancelled following Season 9, 'Scrubs' is set to make a comeback with its signature humor and drama. ABC released the trailer of 'Scrubs Revival' on February 11 and announced that the much-loved show would return on February 25. The title will premiere on ABC and will also be available to stream on Hulu. The short clip featured familiar faces reprising their roles. Watching J.D. (Zach Braff), Christopher Turk (Donald Faison), Elliot Reid (Sarah Chalke), Perry Cox (John C. McGinley), Carla Espinosa (Judy Reyes), and others on screen again is bound to make long-time fans feel a sense of nostalgia. However, viewers will also be introduced to new characters, including interns and experienced professionals, as they navigate the halls of Sacred Heart Medical Center, smiling.
Returning to the screen 16 years after it went off the air, 'Scrubs' is set to pick up in the modern day. As per the trailer, J.D. and Turk reunite and scrub in together, and while a lot seems to have changed, their bond remains the same. The promo sees them grooving in the hospital halls, creating a secret handshake, and more, which is bound to make for an entertaining watch. The interns are also seen making mistakes, having shaky hands during procedures, and being rather unpredictable, which will only add to the chaos of the storyline. However, 'Scrubs Revival' will also include some wholesome, serious moments, balancing humor and heartfelt storytelling.
The upcoming title will feature several stars, including Vanessa Bayer, David Gridley, X Mayo, Amanda Morrow, Ava Bunn, Layla Mohammadi, Joel Kim Booster, Phill Lewis, Michael James Scott, Jacob Dudman, Robert Maschio, and others, who will add a new dimension to Sacred Heart Medical Center. This revival comes after NBC canceled the show in 2008. ABC then picked it up for two seasons, and Faison and McGinley returned as regulars in Season 9 before the network canceled the series.
'Scrubs Revival' will see the show's veterans, Tim Hobert and Aseem Batra, as executive producers and showrunners, which could mean fans will get to experience the original essence of the show. Braff, Faison, Chalke, and creator Bill Lawrence will also serve as executive producers, alongside Doozer Productions' Jeff Ingold, Liza Katzer, and Randall Winston. The title is produced by 20th Television, and fans can learn what Sacred Heart Medical Center has in store for their favorite doctors on February 25 at 8 p.m. ET.
