Walton Goggins takes over Josh Brolin’s role in action thriller from ‘Jumanji’ director — here’s the scoop
'Fallout' star Walton Goggins has been tapped to play the lead role in the action-comedy film 'Mister,' as per Deadline's exclusive report. He will be joined by Chloë Grace Moretz, who will play his estranged daughter in the movie, leading to some banter, explosive father-daughter drama, and emotional moments. Goggins shared the news via his Instagram account alongside a picture of himself with the caption, "That's MISTER to you..." The 54-year-old actor replaces Josh Brolin, who had to quit the project due to scheduling conflicts.
The title will be helmed by Wade Eastwood, who is best known for 'Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning,' 'Jumanji: The Next Level,' and 'Mission: Impossible – Fallout.' Hence, the audience can expect some jaw-dropping action sequences and stunts, all blended with masterful storytelling. As per the official synopsis, the story of 'Mister' centers on a man (Goggins) who "wakes up in a strange house covered in blood and comes to realize his true identity while fighting off contract killers from his past — including everyone from his exes to his best friend." To get out, he joins forces with his estranged daughter (Moretz). However, to survive together, they will have to repair their relationship. The film will begin production in March in Madrid, Spain.
Eastwood gushed about the lead cast, telling Deadline: “From our first conversations, I knew Walton would bring an unpredictable spark you simply can’t manufacture — he’s electric. Chloë brings an incredible mix of strength, vulnerability and razor-sharp timing. Together, they make 'Mister' exactly what we set out to create: bold, funny and completely full-throttle.” Goggins recently appeared in the second season of the post-apocalyptic series 'Fallout,' where he plays a mutant cowboy, the Ghoul/Cooper Howard. The 54-year-old star also earned Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for his performance as Rick in 'The White Lotus' Season 3. His film credits include 'Maze Runner: The Death Cure,' 'Tomb Raider,' 'Ant-Man and the Wasp,' and Quentin Tarantino's Western thrillers 'Django Unchained,' and 'The Hateful Eight.'
Furthermore, Moretz starred in Martin Scorsese's adventure drama 'Hugo' in 2011 and was also seen in action films including 'Kick-Ass,' 'Kick-Ass 2,' 'The Equalizer' and 'The 5th Wave.' She will now share the screen with Goggins in the upcoming movie, and fans are eager to see their on-screen dynamic. 'Mister' will feature Goggins as the producer alongside Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee for the 'John Wick' outfit Thunder Road. Wayne Marc Godfrey and Cortese will also produce for Bright White Light.
