As the world is steadily moving towards a plant-based diet, consumers are spoilt for choice with various vegan products crowding up the shelves of supermarkets. Although there are countless health benefits that come with switching to a plant-based diet, unfortunately, many of them get watered down due to countless additives, thickeners, etc that are added to these products to enhance the taste and texture. For instance, if you read the label of most plant-based milk cartons or bottles, you'll notice the huge amount of sugar and gum in them which makes it difficult to digest.

Another major concern with plant-based milk is the freshness. If you're making it at home, the milk won't stay fresh for too long, while the store-bought milk will stay longer but lacks the same freshness and taste that one gets from home-made milk. So, to help customers get the best of both worlds, that is the convenience of store-bought milk with the freshness of home-made milk two entrepreneurs from New York City came up with Numilk, a self-service plant-based milk machine that will prepare your preferred choice of fresh milk in 30 seconds! Read on to know more about this amazing machine that will soon be making its debut on 'Shark Tank'.

What is Numilk?

Numilk is essentially a milk machine that dispenses freshly-made, organic plant-based milk, based on your preferences. So, all you need to do is place a bottle near the spot of the machine, and choose what type of milk you want (almond or oat), and whether you want a sweetened or unsweetened version, and press the button. In 30 seconds, the machine will give you freshly made milk just as per your liking. The nutritional value from the Numilk machine sounds pretty impressive too. A bottle of Numilk boasts of five grams of protein, three grams of fiber, and calcium.

The brand operates on a 'great taste, less waste' philosophy. "All organic ingredients with a small carbon footprint. By shipping our raw ingredients without the added weight of water, we avoid much of the carbon impact from traditional food distribution. Numilk also eliminates carton waste with our reusable dishwasher-safe bottle. Numilk does plant-based sustainably. BETTER FOR YOU AND BETTER FOR THE PLANET," explains the website.

Who are the founders?

Joe Savino and Ari Tolwin have rich experience in the beverage industry, which they used to develop Nu Milk machine (Shark Tank/ ABC)

Joe Savino and Ari Tolwin invented the Numilk machine. Both Joe and Ari were frustrated by the gums and additives used in the plant-based milk available in the market. So, they created Numilk machine to provide the consumers with fresh and healthy milk that's not only good for them but also for the planet.

During an interview with Well and Good website, Joe and Ari shared, "We just thought there had to be a better way to go about it. The machine grinds the almonds and then mixes it with filtered water and organic maple syrup if the customer chooses to add sweetener."

The two entrepreneurs have backgrounds in the beverage industry. Joe co-founded Harvest Beverage Group; Ari co-founded Happy Tree Maple Water. They used their experience in the industry and consulted with Whole Foods while developing the machine. They enlisted an engineering firm to build an almond milk machine that provides fresh milk to the consumer, whenever they want with just a press of the button.

What is the cost and where to buy the milk from?

Numilk machines have currently been installed in Whole Foods stores in New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut. The brand is currently working on expanding its reach to other places across the country. Each bottle of Numilk costs $3.99.You can check the list of stores and locations where Numilk machine is available here

Where is Numilk now?

Following the success of Numilk in Whole Foods stores, Joe and Ari are currently working on making Numilk machine for homes, which they are touting it as "one press wonder". They are running a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for the Numilk Home machine. The Kickstarter backers who pledged $149 or more will be receiving the Numilk home machine by August 2022. The entrepreneurs are currently estimating the retail price of this nifty machine for $299, and the Kickstarter backers get a 50% discount! This means even if there are no Whole Food stores near you with Numilk machine it doesn't mean you have to miss out on enjoying your favorite plant-based milk's fresh serving!

Who will steal the deal?

Kevin O'Leary on 'Shatrk Tank' (ABC)

Mr. Wonderful aka Kevin O'Leary might steal the deal. Although the brand's sales numbers and profit margins will ultimately be the major deciding factor for the sharks on whether to invest in the business or not. So, we will just have to wait and watch to see if the Sharks even make a deal.

'Shark tank' Season 12 airs every Friday at 8/7c only on ABC.
