Is Travis Kelce on 'The Masked Singer' Season 14? High Voltage's clues linked to a Taylor Swift connection
The 'Care Bears' night went down in 'The Masked Singer' as one of the FOX show's most memorable special event nights. The ongoing Season 14 of the musical mystery show continues to dazzle audiences with its moving performances and intriguing clue packages. The contestants perform on the show while hidden beneath elaborate masks, and the panelists must guess their identities by discerning their vocal style and deciphering the clues accompanying each performance.
Throughout the ongoing season, High Voltage had been steadily garnering audience attention, and the most recent episode of the FOX show finally revealed his true identity.
Nevertheless, before the contestant took off his mask, it was speculated for a brief moment whether NFL star Taylor Swift's partner, Travis Kelce, was actually High Voltage. The contestant took to the stage and delivered a moving rendition of Daniel Powter's 'Bad Day' on the March 11 episode.
He also dropped a hint about his true identity when he said, 'the biggest clue' to his identity, 'has been right in front of your face the whole time.' The front of his costume had '22 V' etched on it, in a seeming nod to Swift's popular song '22'. The clue further had him adding, "I love me a little country, I know how to make an entrance, and I’ve been feelin’ 22 for a long time now."
Jeong was the first panelist to jump to the conclusion that High Voltage was indeed Kelce. Thicke and McCarthy-Wahlberg, on the other hand, agreed among themselves that the contestant was an athlete after all. While McCarthy-Wahlberg settled on the former Patriots player Julian Edelman, Thicke chose the name Tom Brady, since the latter was drafted at 22.
Ora hit the nail on the head when she pointed out that the clues pointed directly to soccer, not any other game. McCarthy-Wahlberg was a tad late in recognizing that High Voltage's costume had a literal soccer ball on his head. She guessed it was 'Ted Lasso' star Jason Sudeikis beneath the costume as a last resort.
Naturally, High Voltage isn't Kelce, and to everyone's surprise, his true identity turned out to be Alexi Lalas. The man behind the enigmatic costume is a sports analyst and a former soccer player. Lalas had previously represented the United States at the 1994 FIFA World Cup, and his jersey number is 22.
Once the revelation was done, all the previously dropped clues finally started making sense. 'The Masked Singer' season fourteen airs new episodes at 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday on FOX and the next day on Hulu.
