What is 'The Copper Alloy Piece'? 'The Curse of Oak Island' team seeks help from fans to identify artifact from Lot 8
NOVA SCOTIA, CANADA: Rick Lagina turned to social media on May 29 to appeal for aid from 'The Curse of Oak Island' fans once more! This time, another artifact.
In the video message, researcher Judi Rudebusch addressed the fans, stating that they are looking for further information on the unidentified object recovered on Lot 8 by Gary Drayton and Jack Begley in 2022. The team now refers to it as 'The Copper Alloy Piece'.

Even though it was discovered folded, many on the team feel it is a part of something greater. The antiques' curator informed the crew that they used to have hand-stamped patterns.
Someone also argued that it was made using a very old process. There has also been speculation that it has ties to the Turkish Seljuk Empire.
The University of New Brunswick's testing revealed that the lead utilized in the copper alloy was most likely mined and greased. The team hopes that the design work on this artifact has a special cultural or symbolic significance.

Archaeologists connected the artifact to 16th century European religious leaders
This finding, found by Gary and Jack in 2022, remains one of the team's most intriguing top pocket finds. It has strange symbols engraved into its design and is made with large amount of copper and considerably smaller, equal proportions of iron and zinc.
According to renowned archaeologist Dr Edwin Barnhart, this sort of relic might be linked to 16th century European religious leaders. However, he hypothesized that it may be considerably older and associated with Viking explorers.
