MOSCOW, RUSSIA: The ongoing historical drama from Paramount+, 'A Gentleman in Moscow', transports viewers to a world shaken by the Russian revolution, where Count Alexander Ilyich Rostov (Ewan McGregor), is exiled to an attic in the sumptuous Hotel Metropol.

Drawing inspiration from Amor Towles' book of the same name, the fifth episode of the series narrated Rostov forming a strong connection with Nina Kulikova's (Leah Balmforth) daughter Sofia (Billie Gadsdon).

After the looming threat of separation from Sofia, Rostov informs the police that Sophia is his niece. The episode concludes with a devastating revelation as Nina is shown in a mass grave, exposing her awful end to viewers.

In the most recent episode, Rostov's situation becomes more complex as he threatens his own security in order to ensure his adopted daughter's welfare.

In 1947, Sofia has matured into a teenager, and like a typical father Rostov's increasing possessiveness is negatively affecting the girl. One such instance has Rostov snapping at a youngster called Viktor, who was teaching Sofia how to play the piano.

Sofia became upset with Rostov and told him that it was supposed to be a surprise birthday present but he ruined it. Later to make up, Sofia and Rostov playfully race to the attic chamber, but oddly, Rostov arrives there first and Sofia is nowhere to be seen.

The Count discovers that his beloved daughter has suffered a head injury after falling down the stairs. He steps out of the hotel abruptly, and the staff and "The Bishop" Leplevsky (John Heffernan) see it, and immediately inform Captain Abhashev of the situation.

Alexander Rostov is startled by Anna Urbanova's bold decision

As soon as Osip Glebnikov (Johnny Harris) learns that Rostov is leaving the hotel, he goes to the Count and begs him to come back, all the while arranging for Sofia to be treated by the greatest doctor of Moscow.

Returning to the hotel, Captain Abhashev and his men look into Rostov's whereabouts, but the employees, following Anna Urbanova's (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) instructions, won't admit that they saw Rostov leave.

In a dramatic turn of events, Rostov returns to the hotel with assistance from the staff and pretends to be at the hotel all the time. Following this, Rostov learns of Sofia's recovery and thanks Anna.

Anna responds that her tour was not shortened, but rather that she missed him and Sofia, so she decided to come back and has now decided to stay at the hotel permanently. Afterward, Sofia is seen playing the piano on Rostov's birthday, with the hotel staff in presence.

It was revealed that Olga (Anastasia Hille) had accepted Vasily's (Daniel Cerqueira) proposal and the two spent the next five years together until Olga met her demise. In the last scene, Bishop is seen drafting a letter while holding Sofia's photo, whereas Anna wishes Rostov a happy birthday and the screen turns black.

It would be interesting to see what fresh maneuver Bishop would use to have Rostov kicked out of the hotel.
