WARSAW, POLAND: Hulu's ongoing drama series 'We Were the Lucky Ones' showcases the dread and grief associated with the Holocaust and the crimes against humanity perpetrated during World War II.

The show, which drew inspiration from Georgia Hunter's book of the same name, narrates the true story of Georgia's family's struggle to survive the horrific Holocaust.

The series revolves around the Kurc family, dispersed throughout the horrifying Holocaust, forging new identities, and hiding to survive the dreadful killing of Jews.

The middle kid of the family, Addy Kurc (Logan Lerman), is shown attempting to get in touch with his family, but he hasn't heard back from them yet because of the war.

Worried that they may have perished, Addy is immersed in misery and hopelessness until his life takes a turn for the better, prompting him to move on.

Addy Kurc is encouraged by Madame Lowbeer in 'We Were the Lucky Ones' Episode 7

Despite the fact that Addy seems to lead a routine life in Rio, where he works in a bookbinding business while awaiting his work visa, he is seen despondently wondering whether his family is still alive or dead, as he hasn't heard back from them.

He encounters Madame Lowbeer (Marin Hinkle), the mother of his ex-girlfriend Elisabeth (Lihi Kornowski).

She encourages him to dismiss negative thoughts and move on with his life. She adds that He must be someone his mother would be proud of when he returns to his family.

Inspired by Madame Lowbeer's advice, Addy attends a party, where he meets Caroline (Nicole Brydon Bloom), a charming young lady.

The two bonds over their shared hatred towards the boring party and later are seen enjoying a dinner date.

Addy opens up to Caroline about his concerns about his family as she is talking about her experience with her dying mother. Caroline listens to him and says she hopes to see them soon, thus making Addy feel he has someone to lean on.

Will Addy Kurc and Caroline's relationship withstand the test of time?

The episode expertly illustrates Addy's desperation to learn about his family, as his terror is increased by the never-ending news about the war.

His life is on the line, but when Madame Lowbeer learns of Addy's condition, her supportive words are more than enough to urge him to attempt to move.

With Caroline in the picture, things seem to be looking up for Addy as he confides in Caroline about his family.

Sharing about his family with Caroline indicates a developing sense of trust, since talking about his grief helps him process his emotions and possibly obtain assistance.

Caroline's presence might be a watershed moment for Addy, as her positivity and compassion may provide a much-needed emotional foundation while he deals with his familial concerns.

However, it should be emphasised that the war-torn world of the series has the potential to end their budding relationship, as Addy may depart on a voyage to meet his family, with his return shrouded in mystery.

Nonetheless, it'd be interesting to watch whether Addy's newfound relationship blooms with time or if their connection fades as time passes.
