‘Vikings’ Season 6: Characters we will miss when the final season comes back

While the show is on its midseason break, we look back at some of the best characters on the show whom we won’t get to see anymore

History Channel’s hit historical drama is on a long (really long) hiatus and before it went off air, it left us with a huge cliffhanger. Not that we can do much about it, except join the conversations around it. While we wait for the show to come back, sometime around the end of the year, we look at some of the characters we had gotten used to over the years and how we miss not seeing them and will not, anymore in the last half of the dramatic final season.

To start with, it’s of course the legendary shield maiden, Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick), whose death shook the entire fandom (this writer included). She has been a star, an icon, a historical figure, way ahead of her times.

Lagertha’s (though unpredictable) untimely death could change the course of the story for the future episodes to come. Even weeks after the show went off air, fans are still mourning the death of their favorite hero. Here’s one of the best comments from a Twitter fan, “Thank you @KatherynWinnick for bringing life to the legendary character of Lagertha. She has been my hero for 6 seasons now she has inspired me & countless more to stay strong, be faithful to your goals & dreams and never give up .saying you will be missed is a understatement.”

Similarly, we also miss Floki (Gustav Skarsgard). From the very beginning of the season, we have been under the impression (from what we learned from the preview) that Floki will be back, at least for a few scenes, before the season finale. But 10 episodes into the series, there is no sign of the character, who once used to be the most crucial one in the earlier seasons. However, there’s no news if Floki will be back at all or did his story end in the fifth season?  Some fans seem hopeful.

“I was 10 eps waiting for the #Floki come back and nothing or I was muggle.  That ending was f**king awesome.  Bjorn did not die will return with Floki and Ubbe #Vikings6#vikingsseason6”, assures a Twitter fan.

Last, but not the least, King Harald will be missed! King Harald Finehair (Peter Franzen) is one of those quirky characters who you love and hate at the same time. He can be intolerable at times even though some of his actions are deeply admirable. Across five and half seasons, the Viking king has shown many layers to his character.

Fans have compared Harald and his relationship with Bjorn with former powerful characters like King Aelle and Ecbert. One fan says:  “Bjorn & Harald reminded me a lot of King Aelle & Ecbert: Very different types of kings, forced to ally with a rival in the face of an imminent foreign invasion. Even physically, there are similarities!#IvanKaye #HistoryVikings #BjornIronside #echoes #Harald.”

‘Vikings’ Season 6 will be back with its second half, around the end of 2020. Meanwhile, join the conversations on Twitter and share what you expect to see when the show comes back.
