'Unexpected' Preview: Tyra fears Layla will turn out like her dad Alex

They say old habits die hard but in Alex's case, he seems to be completely negligent of both his daughter and Tyra

The previous episode of TLC's 'Unexpected' saw a worried Tyra as she sees her baby, Layla, growing up to be a spoilt kid. In addition, it doesn't help that Alex's mother and grandmother spoil Layla like crazy.

The episode saw Tyra reprimanding Layla for unintentionally hitting her grandma. Instead of apologizing, she throws a tantrum and walks away. As Tyra tries to make her understand, she runs to Alex's grandmother, instead of listening to her own mum. Is Layla's behavior due to the poor parenting and upbringing by her parents, Tyra and Alex? Read on to know more.

‘Unexpected’ Spoilers: Why did a worried Myrka Cantu joke about selling her placenta on the black market?

Aside from Layla acting out as just a toddler her age, there are various factors that contribute to not just her behavior, but Tyra's as well.

For starters, Alex is hardly in the picture, let alone as a father figure in Layla's life. The man is out partying, hooking up with other girls (as we saw in a clip where his phone was blasting with messages at 3 in the morning), and making all the wrong decisions in life.

Given that the two were irresponsible to start off with, the least Alex should do at the moment is spend time with both Layla and the mother of his child, not just for parenting but also so that their child's responsibility doesn't completely fall on Tyra.

Having said that, it sure does look like Alex isn't the kind who'll change his old habits and ways, and surprisingly enough, the elderly women in his house don't seem to reprimand him for the same.

What's starting to worry Tyra is how she sees so much of Layla's dad in her already, and to be fair, it doesn't come by surprise one bit. Especially given the fact that Alex was coddled and spoilt growing up, the same is happening to Layla at the present. What now?

Is there any hope for Alex or does it seem like this journey of parenthood is solely on Tyra? We'll have to wait and see.

Stay tuned for new episodes of 'Unexpected' every Sunday, at 10 pm ET, only on TLC.
