Being a leader of a K-pop group is no cakewalk as evident from Soobin tearing up while getting candid about his position in TXT. While new fans may think that a K-pop leader is just like a band’s frontman, the leader doesn’t just introduce the group or be the first one to talk during promotional events. From participating in creative production to making sure all members are treated fairly and working behind the scenes so that their group thrives, a K-pop leader has a lot on their plate along with the usual responsibilities of being an idol.

So it is no surprise that at least one point in their careers, a lot of leaders have confessed that being selected as the leader of the group was pressurising like BTS’ RM, EXO’s Suho, GOT7’s Jay B and more. Well, on the latest episode of Youngji’s ‘Absolutely No Prepare’, TXT’s leader Soobin also got candid about his fears. While talking about his leadership skills, Youngji praised him. He surprised himself by tearing up over her words by stating that he did not know that he needed to hear that.

Soobin gets candid about him being a leader

At one point, Soobin says, “The position as a leader was a big pressure for me.” To this, Youngji replies, “You’re doing very good. I’m serious. I was really touched when I saw you. When you see a video of the person, you often notice his/her feelings or wants he/she wants to express. Looking at your video, I felt that you are trying your best. So, I was very touched. I have seen a lot of videos of people and I can tell you that you are doing a really good job. I’m sure you felt a lot of pressure as people call you juniors of BTS. Despite those pressures, I really think you guys are cool. However, even if fans tell you that you are doing good, if you don’t think of yourself like that, people won’t think like that too.”

While Soobin agreed with Youngji’s last statement he teared up. “Listening to you, I was about to cry. I didn’t know but what you told me was what I wanted to hear.” Youngji tried to console him as he started crying. He had also gotten honest that he felt pressurised because he was the quiet type which is not a good fit for a celebrity. He felt that even just as a member, he shined less than the rest and received less attention, “Lack of skills made me unconfident.”
