'Minisode 2': TXT top charts and cross 918K sales on day 1, fans call them '4th gen leaders'

Fans already knew that ‘Minisode 2: Thursday’s Child’ was going to be TXT’s best-selling album yet as the pre-orders reached 1.4 million 10 days before the actual comeback. It was their highest sales already ever with the album also becoming the 10th most pre-ordered album in K-pop history. And now the boy group has gone and broken a record on day 1 of the album release as they crossed 918K sales.

On May 9, TXT released ‘Minisode 2: Thursday’s Child’ and within hours it started climbing charts and topping trends on Twitter, YouTube and MelOn. The album also did well internationally as it topped iTunes in 43 countries including the major markets like Japan and UK. TXT also debuted at #1 on the Worldwide and European iTunes charts. Even the title track of the album ‘Good Boy Gone Bad’ did well as it was #1 on iTunes in 19 regions.

TXT has highest-first day sales among fourth-gen groups

TXT now follows BTS and trot singer Lim Young-woong as the only Korean act to have over 900k sales on day 1 of the album’s release according to Hanteo Chart. The boy group also has the highest-selling album for a K-pop act in 2022 and a fourth-gen K-pop group in general. Fans are proud of the organic growth as TXT went from only 30k sales for their debut album to 918k sales for ‘Minisode 2: Thursday’s Child’ in just a day. It is also higher than all of their previous albums’ first-day sales combined. The album is also doing well on Korean charts as it entered the likes of MelOn, Bugs, Genie and FLO's top 100.

‘TXT setting the bar high’

MOAs (TXT’s fandom) were proud as they made tweets like, “TXT 4TH GEN LEADERS!! THEY SAID IT THEMSELVES.” Another fan posted, “I love how versatile txt’s concepts are even in one album alone it has people feeling mixed emotions, they truly are the 4th gen leaders.” One MOA shared, “Txt setting the bar higher every comeback and that's on being 4th gen leaders!!! congrats, MOAs and TXT.”  With TXT’s previous album making 294k sales, one MOA flexed, “The growth !! They went so damn hard this time.”

Meanwhile, Knetizens were surprised at how popular TXT was in South Korea with 918k sales, “Did they make the comeback? I don’t even know about it.. But they are so popular.” One Knetz was impressed with the iTunes charts, “They’re much bigger overseas than in Korea, so I don’t think you can feel it.. Seriously, they’re so popular.” Another wrote, “I'm just a netizen passing by but I saw their MV and was hookedㅋㅋㅋㅋ All of them looked so cool.”
