TXT Beomgyu causes concern for his limited meal portions, fans say 'I hope he is okay'
Trigger Warning: Mentions of eating disorders like anorexia and bulimia
SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA: K-pop idols are always under the radar of eager fans that take account of their every move. Due to this, idols eating during live streams as they chat up with fans has become a common act. Idols host mukbangs while they go live and interact with fans answering their questions. Most of these events are followed by chats in the fandom about the way idols consume their food. So is the case for Beomgyu of TXT who is garnering attention for nibbling on his food and eating too little for his age.
K-pop idols do suffer from body image issues and due to being in the public eye for a major part of their lives, many K-pop idols are called out for being 'overweight'. This puts a lot of pressure on idols who eventually develop an eating disorder. MOAs (fans of TXT) who are just becoming aware of Beomgyu's eating habits are concerned that the idol could be suffering from an eating disorder that is causing him to nibble on his food.

TXT Beomgyu's eating habits cause concern among fans
Fans have been talking about how Beomgyu often eats in tiny bites and expressed their shock when Beomgyu was spotted eating the tiny Korean bite-sized snack - Kancho in six bites. On August 15, a fan took to an online community to discuss Beomgyu's eating habit as they said, "If I ate like Beomgyu, I'd be thin." This post triggered more fans to post about Beomhyu's eating habits and led many of his fans to wonder he is doing so in order to stop himself from binge-eating in order to maintain his weight.

Not only that but fans also shared photos of Beomgyu and Taehyun's mukbang VLive where the duo hardly ate anything. Mukbangs are video streams that feature a person eating a large quantity of food and talking to the audience. For Beomgyu and Taehyun to eat barely anything during their mukbang session triggered questions about their diet amongst fans. A recent post from Beongyu's attention is also garnering attention now as it had fans showing the contrast between what Beomgyu ate throughout his broadcast versus what Soobin ate during his short cameo on the same V Live.

'If Koreans didn't fatshame they wouldn't be so worried'
While the claims that Beomgyu suffers from an Eating Disorder due to his small bites are untrue and unproven at present, fans can't help but address his eating method as they worry about the idol. One fan said, "The time beomgyu said the best way to lose (weight) is to not eat." Another fan said, "We'll maybe if Koreans didn't fat shame everyone they wouldn't be so worried when they eat." One more fan said, "Soobin just came and ate more cakes than Beomgyu ate throughout the V Live." One fan said, "WAIT NOT AT HOW YEONJUN ATE THAT WHOLE THING AND BEOMGYU TOOK A TINY NIBBLE WTF IM SO DONE." One more fan said, "The way beomgyu tried to fit the whole cookie in his mouth vertically but then proceeded to take a nibble of it when he failed."
One more fan said, "Some people I know do eat less portions but those cake photos are kinda worrying. Nobody really eats that little of something especially cake which is super delicious. I just hope Beomgyu is ok and remember that guys can have eating disorders too!" One fan said, "It's even more worrying because he works out too? How can you have energy to work out if you eat this little :( I think Taehyun eats well so he gains muscle. Ik Seventeen eats like animals to work out so they all bulked up." One more fan guesses, "He’s probably self conscious about his weight." One more fan said, "You can barely understand the context with just pictures so I found this video on Twitter and I was hella surprised. Does he even eat enough???" One fan said, "I just hope he is not starving himself."
One more fan saw this in a different light as they said, "I think beomgyu's way of eating helps all people who suffer from ed. we all know that gyu eats in small bites, right? he also eats slowly. anorexic people can start eating small portions little by little and bulimic can do the same too. This can help ppl who binge-eat too much too. i like that it helps all types of people. bcs as a person who has tendencies to binge-eat, that way of eating would seriously help me. every little thing that beomgyu does can affect me in a good way. i love him so much." One fan said, "And if the roles were reversed, he would be called a "pick me" like wonyoung and yuna." One fan snided, "Stop copying enha! Everyone want to be f@tshammer now."
