Airing on tvN and Netflix, ‘Twenty Five, Twenty One’ is one of the popular ongoing shows at the moment. It stars K-drama favorite Nam Joo-hyuk and Kim Tae-ri of ‘The Handmaiden’ fame along with WJSN’s Bona. Set in the 90s, it follows young adults Yi-jin and Hee-do’s friendship over three years. While Yi-jin is the sombre senior with a tragic past, his life lightens up with the entry of the optimistic Hee-do, a high school fencer who reaches the Asian Games with sheer will and passion.

While the plot comes off as a melodrama, the K-drama is anything but sad from the main characters bantering and bickering while also giving useful life advice without being too didactic. ‘Twenty-Five, Twenty-One’ has also constantly been at the top of the most-watched and talked-about shows every week since its premiere that it even piqued the curiosity of busy idols who have ended up being fans of the K-drama. Here’s a growing list of K-pop idols, including BTS' Jungkook and aespa's Karina, who are slowly revealing themselves as watchers of the coming-of-age sports drama.

38 K-pop idols watch the K-drama ‘Twenty-Five, Twenty-One’

Fans of K-dramas and K-pop couldn’t help but get excited that their favorite idols like TXT's Beomgyu and Seventeen's Hoshi were watching their favorite drama. Many reasoned that idols loved 'Twenty-Five, Twenty-One' since the show reminded them of their trainee days and could relate to Hee-do struggling to achieve her dreams. User @jjwogio, in fact, took it upon themselves to create a thread of idols watching the show with others chiming in and helping the list grow every day.

Enhypen’s Sunoo was surprised that his current favorite drama happened to be the same as Jungwon’s and ended up sharing that it was indeed ‘Twenty-Five, Twenty-One’.

Red Velvet’s Yeri just had to come online and share that she was watching the scene where Hee-do asks her classmate, Ji-woong to teach her how to dance.

AOA’s Seolhyun is another viewer asking the right questions as she wondered why Na Hee-do’s child in the future had the surname ‘Kim’. It should be noted that Yi-jin’s surname is ‘Baek’ hinting that maybe Hee-do did not get involved with him romantically or that they broke up.

CIX’s Jinyoung was also watching it as he commented that the retro vibe and the colors of the drama were pretty.

Treasure’s Junghwan, Jihoon, Jeongwoo and Hyunsuk showed their love for the drama in the most hilarious way. During a radio show, they recreated the iconic scene where Hee-do tearfully returns a destroyed copy of ‘Full House’ that she had borrowed from Yi-jin’s book store and then runs away.

Monsta X’s I.M. also showed his love for the drama by getting philosophical when he quoted Hee-do’s dialogue where she comforts Yi-jin by saying she hopes to get over her tragedies by finding comedy in her life.

Itzy’s Ryujin, Chaeryeong and Yuna couldn’t help fangirl over 'Twenty-Five, Twenty-One' during a VLive of theirs with many relating to Ryujin’s hand-on-her-head expression. Even Lia started watching it as she shared that her fans had recommended it and that Tae-ri was pretty. A week later, Yeji added that even she had started it and the drama was fun to watch.

We also have three NCT 127 members watching the show. Doyoung explained that he was watching it but he preferred binge-watching it all in one go. He again mentioned it in a different incident where he said praised Tae-ri and Joo-hyuk and called the plot fun. Taeil not only sang an OST but also used a famous phrase to caption his Instagram post. Jungwoo also complied with a fan’s request by reenacting one of Yi-jin’s scenes during a fansign.

TWICE’s Jihyo is another idol who lent her voice for the OST and is also watching it as she praised actress Seo Jae-hee for her role as Hee-do’s mother.

Fans discovered (G)I-DLE’s Yuqi and Shuhua are also watching the show in the most hilarious way as Yuqi shared that the latter sounds exactly like Hee-do. Shuhua on the other hand was shocked and disappointed that the episodes only come out at the weekends as she wanted to watch the K-drama every day.

IVE’s Liz is another fan as she had made a post sharing her excitement over a new episode and that she would watch the two new episodes together.

Loona fans found it hilarious that Chuu was queerbaited as she started watching 'Twenty-Five, Twenty-One' after the other members like Yves and Gowon claimed that it was a love story between Hee-do and her rival Yu-rim, played by Bona. Gowon also often chats about the show with fans as she likes the relationship between Hee-do and Yu-rim while Yves likes class president Seung-wan.

Ateez’s Hongjoong shared that he had fun watching the drama and was impressed with the dialogues.

Even Astro’s Sanha was watching it while he was in quarantine for being diagnosed with Covid-19. He added that he was passing the time by watching the drama and that it was good.

Cravity’s Seongmin too turned out to be the latest idol to watch 'Twenty-Five, Twenty-One' as he recently uploaded a picture of him watching it.

With Blackpink’s Jisoo being friends with Bona she decided to visit her on set and gift her a coffee truck that had Blackpink and WJSN fans excited. She further showed her support by saying that since Bona was in it she would be watching the show.

Seventeen’s Hoshi said that he loved the drama and strongly recommended it. Fans also found it endearing as he belatedly found out that member DK was one of the singers who sang an OST (original soundtrack) for ‘Twenty-Five, Twenty-One’.

BTS’ Jungkook became the next fanboy after he shared an Instagram Story of him watching the drama. His laughing while Hee-do’s mother catches Yi-jin in her house and questions his relationship with her daughter made the scene funnier.

Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung showed her support for Tae-ri by saying that she wasn’t going to watch any TV but since she missed the actress she was watching the drama. She also posted another story with an inside joke from the show as she said that Hee-do’s favorite comic ‘Full House’ had not released its next issue and they were waiting.

TXT’s Beomgyu even chatted with fans about it as he explained that he was currently watching 'Twenty-Five, Twenty-One'.

Ex-Gfriend star Yerin showed her excitement for new episodes by stating that Saturdays are ‘2521 day’. SinB who is also in Viviz, also revealed that she was watching the drama by asking fans if they were rooting for Yi-jin and Hee-do or Hee-do and Yu-rim.

aespa’s Karina started watching it as she is a fan of the 2013 song ‘Twenty-Five, Twenty One’ and thought it was related to it. Giselle also said that she liked it a lot as she said she wasn’t one to watch K-dramas but enjoyed watching it. She recommended it to fans as she described it as a pleasant youth drama.

STAYC’s Sieun was asked who her favorite characters from the K-drama were and she replied that it was Hee-do and Ji-woong.
