‘Twenty Five, Twenty One’ OST: Here's why Jihyo is first TWICE member to go solo in 7 yrs
Fans and non-fans have often been surprised by the lack of solos and projects outside of JYPE for the global K-pop group TWICE. Having debuted in 2015, they are in their seventh year and have only released one K-drama OST (original soundtrack) for ‘Hospital Playlist Season 2’. Well, on March 4, ONCEs (TWICE’s fandom) rejoiced when it was announced that leader Jihyo was getting her first solo OST for the popular ongoing drama ‘Twenty Five, Twenty One’.
Back in 2020, TWICE had spoken about why they did not have any solo projects apart from the occasional individual magazine photoshoots and variety show appearances. Jihyo explained that they would have to discuss with their label JYPE for solo or sub-unit projects but if they did, it would mean “we would be neglecting our promotions as a whole group.” The rest of TWICE agreed with Jihyo but also shared that would be interested if any solo or sub-unit opportunities came up.

Jihyo sings OST for ‘Twenty Five, Twenty One’
Well, it looks like the TWICE members will finally be launching their solo careers. Jihyo has become the first member to get a solo music project as she will be lending her voice for the OST of ‘Twenty Five, Twenty One’. She will be singing ‘Stardust Love Song’ which is a sorrowful ballad to fit the story arc of the main characters parting ways for the first time. Expectations are high as Studio Maeum C said that they were looking forward to Jihyo’s warm vocals shining in a solo song.
Jihyo’s OST titled ‘Stardust Love Song’ will be released on March 6 at 6 pm KST on all major music streaming platforms. Previously, in 2016, TWICE had launched the ‘Melody Project’ to fulfill their solo wishes as the members released solo songs, sub-unit songs, and song covers on JYPE’s YouTube channel. And while Jihyo had shared that they would be focusing on group activities, Jeongyeon has also released a duet OST in 2018 with her sister, actress Gong Seung-yeon for her K-drama ‘My Dream Class’.
‘Long overdue’
Well, ONCEs are excited for Jihyo’s first-ever OST as they made tweets like, “Yess queen, we are so proud.” Another fan posted, “Her voice is everything.” One added, “God jihyo world domination.” Another ONCE shared, “LETS GOOO ANOTHER OST OF THE YEAR.” One commented, “FINALLY! Long overdue for her to get a solo release like this, her voice is perfect for OST's, can't wait!” Another shared, “We will hear Jihyo's wonderful, great, amazing and powerful vocals again. I'm so excited for our best leader's OST. Let's give and show all of our best to support her First Solo OST!”
