'Treadstone' finale promo shows Dan target Matt Edwards for digging into Senator Eamon Wray's connection to Yuri
The finale of 'Treadstone' titled 'The Cicada Covenant' will show how Tara Coleman decides to use her skills as a cicada herself. The promo of the upcoming episode shows how Tara Coleman (Tracy Ifeachor) is ready to take on Yuri (Merab Ninidze) because it was he who had planned an attack against her and her friends Meghan and Sebastian.
His men had even killed Meghan to gain access to the key code for North Korea's hidden currency which was then used to purchase the warhead of Stiletto Six, a nuclear weapon. We saw in episode 9 that Tara was woken up by the CIA as one of their cicadas in Moscow and coincidentally, Yuri is her first target.
She, however, got her target package in the presence of Petra (Gabrielle Scharnitzky), who likely tried to stop her from the looks of the promo. Tara is not ready to give Yuri a second chance though. In fact, she wants to take him on as soon as possible for what he did to Meghan.
While this occurs, we also see John Bentley (Jeremy Irvine) return to the facility where Dr. Meisner (Martin Umbach) had held him and his friend Agent Matheson. He returns to capture Petra (Emilia Schule) and take her into CIA's custody so that they can harvest any information they can about the Cicada Protocol.
Petra, who had seemingly betrayed John to take him back to Yuri now looks dejected with John's return. It is also highly likely that Yuri was in on this plan and had intentionally let John and Matheson escape after being bought out by the U.S.
It is clear in the present that Yuri is a man who has his eyes on the prize money. This is also reflected in the past, especially in episode 9 when Dr. Meisner told John that he was still a cicada who was not completely fixed.
He also hinted at John's escape being a part of a bigger plan. This is something that we will see more of in the finale. Then we see SoYun, who is now given the assignment to kill Colonel Shin in return to get asylum for her family in the U.S.
Things, however, may not have worked according to the plan because we see an anxious SoYun being asked if she had assumed everything would just change now? Also, this could mean that SoYun was successful at removing Colonel Shin, but was not able to get the CIA to keep their end of the deal.
The most important detail that we saw in the promo came towards the end of the episode when we saw CIA agent Matt Edwards get targetted by Agent Dan Levine. Matt now knows too much about Operation Treadstone, and furthermore, he is now trying to dig deeper into the connection between Senator Eamon Wray (Tim Ahern) and Yuri. This could end up being problematic for the ambitious politician and also the CIA as Operation Treadstone is a black book operation.
The next episode of 'Treadstone' will air on Tuesday at 10 pm ET on the USA Network.
