Taking off from where it left last week, CBS’s latest crime procedural is going to see the plot thickening in the upcoming episodes as Chief Abigail Thomas (Edie Falco) is all set to open a can of worms.

So far, we have seen Blake Sullivan (Adelaide Clemens) going on a hunt for her missing friend and journalist who had started to discover the truth behind Arturo Lopez’s murder. And perhaps, he lands on some solid facts and evidence. But before he could share the same with Blake, he goes missing. Suspecting something fishy, Blake tries to track him down but no avail.

Instead she faces a threat from a mysterious investigator who blackmails her into stopping her search in lieu of deeply compromising photographs of her and Mayor Buddy Gray (Thomas Sadoski). Finding no better option, Blake comes clean to her boss, Chief Thomas.

Without getting into the details of Blake and Buddy’s affair, she prioritizes the missing person search, but discreetly. Apparently, this is not going down well with her Chief of Staff, Donn Cooper. In the preview, as we see, Cooper tries to reason with Tommy saying that she cannot keep secrets anymore. Rather, she should go the official way and launch a “formal investigation” to find the journalist. But Tommy believes otherwise.

She is already fighting with the ethics committee to keep her job and her reputation, after her personal photos with her girlfriend, Kiley Mills (Katrina Lenk) got leaked, followed by Kiley’s involvement in Tommy’s previous case.

And now, when Tommy sees Blake going through the same drill, it makes her believe strongly that there’s something more going on with the government involving the LAPD. Ergo, she doesn’t agree with Cooper and tells him that any whiff of her investigation can turn up the heat and make the conspirators become alert, making her lose any leads that she might otherwise get.

As Tommy tells Cooper, this could be a war oncoming. How deep could be the conspiracy that Tommy is hinting at?

Watch ‘Tommy’ Episode 11, on Thursday April 30, 10 pm/9c, only on CBS.
