Her home renovation journey has an interesting start

Before taking on the world of interior design, Brooks was an assistant manager at a luxury apartment complex in Chicago. It was during her stint here that she took it upon herself to design one of the models, with a measly budget of $3,000. Her then boss recognized her talent and entered the project to compete in the Chicagoland Apartment Associations' CAMME Awards. Her boss also made a bet with her - if she won, she was to pursue a career in interior design. She did go on to win and saw her end of the bet through - she opened You and Your Decor, her interior design company shortly after.

She's a celebrated designer

Winning 'HGTV Design Star' was just the boost Brooks needed, her fame grew exponentially after the show. Apart from this, she's also been named one of 20 famous interior designers working today by Architectural Digest, most sought-after interior designer in Chicago and listed as one of the top 20 African-American designers in the nation, throughout her career.

She's worked with HGTV for quite a while

After winning 'HGTV Design Star', Brooks landed her first show - 'Most Embarrassing Rooms in America'. However, the show didn't make it past four episodes. Undeterred, Brooks continued to work with HGTV, starring on shows like 'HGTV Smart Home 2020' and 'Rock the Block'. However, it looks like she's finally ready to be the front runner of her very own show - '$50K Three Ways', in which Brooks 'presents homeowners with three wildly different design plans for three completely different spaces within their homes.'

Her net worth is...

As reported by Married Biography, Brooks net worth is estimated to be $1.5 million. As a designer, it's estimated that she makes anywhere between $34k to $73k.

Watch Season 2 of 'Rock The Block' on Mondays at 9 pm ET/PT on HGTV and you can stream the same on Discovery+.
