‘The Voice’: Who is Parker McKay? Nashville singer picks up Team Kelly's last spot
The final round of ‘The Voice’ Season 21 blind audition aired on Tuesday, October 5 and saw contestants namely Aaron Hines, KCK3, Tommy Edwards, Joe McGuiness, and Shadale trying their luck to grab one final spot on the singing reality show. Singer Parker McKay was another contestant who landed on ‘The Voice’ blinds with the same intention.
Parker was the last contestant to show up at the blind auditions which means that the teams of Blake Shelton, John Legend, and Ariana Grande were already full. All Parker needed was one chair turn from Kelly Clarkson. In order to impress Kelly, Parker crooned Niall Horan's ‘Slow Hands’. She did start on a slow note which did not impress Kelly, however, the game changed when Parker showed that she could hit a few high notes. Soon Kelly turned around to bag the singer thus finally completing her team for this season of the reality show.

Who is Parker McKay?
Parker is a 29-year-old pop singer from Nashville who also sang country music for a while. The talented crooner in the montage revealed how she was extremely close to her mother but she lost her after she battled with frontotemporal dementia. Parker’s mother breathed her last right before she auditioned for ‘The Voice’. The singer also revealed that it was her mother who drove her for her very first audition when she was 17. “My mom passed right before I left (to audition) on the day before her birthday. I was so lucky because both my dad and I were able to be there with her right by her side and held her hand until she took her last breath. She saw me into the world and I saw her out”, said Parker.
Parker studied at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City. She later opened for acts like Rascal Flatts, Sheryl Crow, and The Band Perry after she caught the attention of a booking agent which propelled her music career.
Speaking of her performance, Kelly said that Parker had only her as the choice to which the latter replied that she was “thrilled.” Kelly further said, “I loved that song because it’s kind of like in between country and soul and blues. I love that… Welcome to the obvious team for you.” John Legend too chimed in and stated, “It was a really fun performance. I loved when you started to soar on those high notes. It was really compelling, and congratulations, I’m so happy for you.”
‘Fear she’ll win because of the story and not the talent’
The fans of ‘The Voice’ took to Twitter to speak about the final contestant of the blinds. “Parker McKay with such a cool vibe. Nice runs with an interesting tone. She is working the stage and the audience, and Kelly. That’s a performer for ya”, said one user as another stated, “I fear she’ll win because of the story and not the talent. Anyone else feel this way?” One person added, “I'm so happy Kelly turned, her story had me in tears and her voice is beautiful. Welcome to the Voice Parker!! Go break limits, your mum is proud of you.” While, another concluded, “Loved Parker's voice and performance.”
