‘The Voice’ Season 21 is done with the blind auditions and with six episodes down it was finally time to premiere the battles that saw two contestants from each team locking horns in order to move to the next round. The battles, interestingly, give an opportunity to judges to either save or steal right after each performance.

Ariana Grande, who looked all geared up for her very first battle on ‘The Voice’, brought her first two singers i.e. Katie Rae and Bella DeNapoli, and decided to test them on the song ‘No More Tears (Enough is Enough)’ by Barbra Streisand and Donna Summer. Ariana brought her close pal and adviser Kristin Chenoweth as a mentor to polish the skills of her first two contestants of the battle.

John Legend and Kelly Clarkson pick Katie Rae

Ariana and Kristin shared their opinions and suggestions before Katie and Bella hit the stage for this season’s very first battle. After giving a power-packed performance on the song ‘No More Tears (Enough is Enough)’, Ariana got emotional as it was her very first experience to witness the battles of the singing reality show. While Bella went for higher notes, Katie impressed the judges with rich and powerful belts.

John Legend complimented Bella but, in the end, said he would go for Katie. Kelly Clarkson too seemed intrigued by Katie’s performance whereas, Blake Shelton leaned towards Bella. However, in the end, it was on Ariana to take the final call. An emotional Ariana shed tears while praising both the singers and eventually picked Katie as the winner. The rest of the three judges had the opportunity to steal Bella but all of them decided not to and that’s when Ariana saved Bella and made sure she continued her journey on ‘The Voice’ Season 21.

‘Ariana had no choice’

Social media users loved how the battles opened with two incredible singers. “Damn it! I like these two!! Why did she have to put them against each other?!?!”, said one user as another posted, “Wow the voice spoilers was wrong, I thought bella won and katie was stolen. Personally, I thought bella also won this.” The next one asserted, “Bella, Katie. wow, wow, wow, wow, wow! There really’s nothing to critique on an incredibly beautiful performance like 2 of you had today. It was very gorgeous. These modern days, you never do hear these types of classic legendary iconic voices anymore but you two delivered!”

Another user shared, “Ariana had no choice she needed to get both back cause this perfomance was crazy.” One user added, “I started crying as soon as Katie started singing! My face had goosebumps! Lol.” One user concluded, “i have no words… they were soooo incredible !!! ariana has a lot to be proud of.”
