'The Tattooist of Auschwitz' recounts the true story of Lale Sokolov (Jonah Hauer-King), a Slovakian Jewish man sent to the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp in 1942 during World War II.

Assigned as the camp's tattooist, he meets Gita while inscribing her prison number. Their love story unfolds amid the harsh realities of survival, as they face risks to be together and help fellow prisoners.

They navigate dangers under the watchful eye of Nazi SS officer Baretzki (Jonas Nay), who becomes aware of their bond.

Nearly six decades later, widowed Lale (Harvey Keitel), now in his 80s, bravely shares his story with author Heather Morris (Melanie Lynskey).

His recollections unveil the haunting memories of his youth, including his love affair amid unspeakable atrocities.

The official synopsis reads, "Based on the eponymously titled novel, this is the powerful real-life story of Lale Sokolov, a Jewish prisoner who was tasked with tattooing ID numbers on prisoners' arms in the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp during World War Two."
