Prime's 'The Marvelous Mrs Maisel' Season 5 Episode 2 Takeaway: Midge's career takes an exciting turn

Future is the theme throughout

Season 5 began with a glimpse of Midge's daughter Esther in a therapist's office. It seems like the end of the series is also about where the characters will go in the future. In episode 5, we see all the characters, especially Midge, years in the future. The time jumps suggest that Midge will be a big star in the future, but some parts of her current life in New York have not followed her there. It would be a shock, but Susie, Midge's manager, is not with her. Now you may wonder why we are suddenly talking about flashbacks, especially since Susie and Midge get along so well in the present. There are many signs that Susie and Midge will go their separate ways in the future. But the present suggests otherwise. The plot reminds us to appreciate the incredible friendship between the two characters on screen, so we can prepare ourselves for a punch in the chest when the series ends.

Midge and Susie are success due to their partnership

The centerpiece of episode 5 will be the success of Midge and Susie. Their compatibility and the duo's friendship are like something out of a storybook. It's clear that Midge's success matches Susie's, so their progress goes hand in hand from the start. It's interesting and refreshing that episode 5 separates Susie's success from Midge's, showing that Susie will do whatever it takes not only for her best friend but for all her other clients - and for her own career. In the future glimpses, we also see Susie becoming a great manager of some famous personalities. Let us wait for next week to find out what else the story of Midge and Susie and their boundless fun has to offer.

'The Marvelous Mrs Maisel' is now exclusively available on Prime Video.
