Another glorious season of the biggest baking championship came to a close with another talented baker as the winner. Meet Brother Andrew Corriente the Capuchin friar from Washington, DC.

After two months of rigorous auditions, Br Andrew joined the team of nine other amateur bakers to be a part of ‘The Great American Baking Show’ Season 5. Ever since he joined the competition, Andrew has been in the limelight. His past experience with baking has mostly been limited to his fraternity. But he has always been popular among his community for his passion for baking and winning hearts with delectable desserts and confections.

As soon as he joined ‘The Great American Baking Show’, he instantly became a hit with the judges. His charming personality and incredible culinary talent (and knowledge) kept him around the top ranks. Hailing from a background with Filipino heritage, Andrew brings a lot of Asian charm and tropical accents to his recipes.

However, like even the most seasoned bakers, Andrew also had his down times. In the third week, he was almost on the verge of being eliminated, but was eventually saved. The judges, Paul Hollywood and Sherry Yard, have always been praise of Andrew’s skills and how he is creative in his presentation and puts hearts into every dish, making himself and his dish stand out. Even if he failed in technicalities of baking once or twice, he made up for it next time.

Br Andrew, became a trending ‘priest’, and is called Br Baker by fans and his friary.

On the day of the season finale, Andrew nailed it with the last round, where he had to make three individual party desserts of his choice. He chose to do chocolate cookies with lime cream and blackberry jam, sponge cakes with fresh cream and fruits, and a puff pastry. While both Sherry and Paul had concerns with the cakes, he won them over with his exquisite presentation. This is another aspect of baking that Brother Andrew is a master at. His presentation skills have always been a step beyond others, as we have observed. And so have the judges.

And thus, with his final victory, Brother Andrew became the proud and ‘Best Amateur Baker of America’.
