‘The Great American Baking Show’ Season 5 Episode 2: Fans feel Brother Andrew might be next on the block to get eliminated

As the holiday edition of the popular baking show opened for a new season, contestant Brother Andrew tops the list of all 10 participants. But the second week turns out to be tough for the talented baker.

‘The Great American Baking Show’ Season 5 is all about recreating timeless and classic holiday baked recipes. Week 2 saw contestants competing on dessert recipes made with traditional spices. Each of the 10 bakers brought to the table their best versions of confections like cinnamon rolls, puddings, gingerbread house, madeleines and more.

Brother Andrew, from Washington DC, has been one of the top contestants since the first week. He was the star of the show in the bread challenge when he made beautiful, artisan bread. After that, we were hopeful that his winning streak will continue through the next week. But unfortunately, his luck didn’t favor him in the second week.

The challenge of the week was to make Christmas special confections with spices. Although he had enough practice with his friar, he couldn’t manage to please the judges. His lime and Vietnamese cinnamon rolls might have been very creative but they turned out hard. Even the ones that followed were not that impressive either. But the showstopper round was the one that made it really difficult for Brother Andrew, when he had a disaster with his cheesecake.

According to @NotYerAvgChick, “Brother Andrew Accidentally Knocked Over His Cheesecake! #AmericanBakingShow, @GABakingShow.” She also tries to cheer him up with her tweet, saying, “Stay calm Brother Andrew!#AmericanBakingShow @GABakingShow.”

Another fan, @schoolover13, who realized in the second round itself, where Andrew was slipping up, commented, “Oops brother Andrew should do toasted nuts  #AmericanBakingShow”

And after the cheesecake fail, he commented, “I guess that Brother Andrew will go home.  #AmericanBakingShow”

As of now, we don’t think Brother Andrew is at any risk. But looking at the way the competition is going, we can only expect the baking challenges to get tougher with every passing week. As we get deeper into the show, the competition will get tighter. So, whether Andrew will be able to present his best talent and live up to his week one’s standards is something next week will prove.

Watch the holiday special edition of ‘The Great American Baking Show’ Season 5, every Thursday at 9 pm/8c, only on ABC.
