'The Drummer' on 1091 Pictures: 5 things you never knew about Danny Glover
1091 Pictures is soon to drop a drama that tells a tragic tale. 'The Drummer' is an upcoming indie drama movie that will follow soldiers that return from war but are haunted by their traumatic memories from when they served.
The movie will showcase three interwoven stories of veterans from different generations and how they've been affected. Danny Glover as Mark Walker
Daniel Lebern Glover is an American actor, film director, and political activist. Glover was born to postal workers who were active in the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), which worked to advance equal rights. This was one of the reasons that he feels strongly about activism as well. He originally worked in city administration working on community development before transitioning to theater, which he didn't find hard to do. His first theater work was with the American Conservatory Theater, with him training with Jean Shelton at the Shelton Actors Lab in San Francisco.
Glover has had a diverse career in film, stage, and television roles, and is best known for playing Los Angeles police Sergeant Roger Murtaugh in the 'Lethal Weapon' action film series. His other works include 'The Color Purple', 'To Sleep with Anger', 'Predator 2', 'Jumanji: The Next Level' amongst others. The actor who has great participation in activism was bestowed with the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award for his 'decades-long advocacy for justice and human rights by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences in 2021. He is set to appear in 'The Drummer' as one of the leads.
Sam Underwood as Darien Cooper
Sam Lewis Underwood is an English actor. Born on August 4, 1987, in Woking, Surrey, Underwood trained at the Summerscales Performing Arts Theatre Group and was taught by vocal coach Phil Wisdom and attended Songtime Theatre Arts. He went on to study at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York and graduated in 2008. While appearing as Marchbanks in George Bernard Shaw's 'Candida' at the Irish Repertory Theatre in April 2010, he was asked to play the part of Alan Strang in the production of 'Equus' and co-starred alongside Alec Baldwin. In 2013, Underwood was cast in the eighth season of the television series 'Dexter' in the recurring role of Zach Hamilton and went on to join the third season of 'Homeland' as Leo Carras.
At the start of 2014, Underwood took on the double role of twins Mark and Luke Gray in the second season of the murder mystery show 'The Following'. 2017 saw him join the cast of the hit AMC thriller series 'Fear the Walking Dead' in its third season as Jake Otto, the role he is most widely known for. He was then cast as Adam Carrington in The CW series 'Dynasty'. Underwood is set to appear in 'The Drummer' as a soldier.
