You know a show has got to be ultra steamy when its main stars Sarah Shahi and Adam Demos end up falling in love in real life. Make no mistake, when it comes to being a hot and heavy show, Netflix's dramedy 'Sex/Life' which follows the sexual adventures and misadventures of Billie Mann (Sarah Shahi), a suburban housewife who decides that she wants more than just the picket fence and the perfect kids, is as steamy as it gets. From orgies to sexual positions in all forms in all possible places, to some full-frontal nudity that had fans agape, to Billie watching her best friend having sex with her ex over a video call, 'Sex/Life' is so risque that one wonders if this new Netflix show could actually be bordering on porn.

But 'Sex/Life' certainly wouldn't be the first Netflix show to raise that question. So what are some of the other steamiest shows and movies on Netflix that have tread the very thin line between artistic expression and well let's say porn? If shows on the challenges of maintaining romance in the face of marriage and children appeal to you, then perhaps shows like 'Workin Moms', 'Breeders' and 'Good Girls' will be of interest. But for now, let's take a look at some of the steamiest shows and movies you can catch on Netflix.

'Bridgerton'

When the word steamy is uttered these days, the show that immediately comes to mind, at least before 'Sex/Life' came along, was 'Bridgerton'. All those tight corsets and rigid mindsets make for the perfect combination of repression and the passion that explodes as a result. Set in the early 1800s, when the rules of society were extremely strict, it somehow makes all the ensuing scandalous sexual behavior even more enjoyable.

'Bridgerton' stars Phoebe Dynevor as Daphne Bridgerton (Netflix)

'Outlander'

Before 'Bridgerton' there was another period piece 'Outlander' where a woman on her honeymoon accidentally time travels from 1945 to 1873, and finds that great sex has always been a great way to pass the time. The stars of the show, Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan, who play Jamie Fraser and Claire share bodice-ripping chemistry that is absolutely sizzling which helps elevate this show to one of the steamiest ones on Netflix. The show, which is based on books by Diana Gabaldon, is often referred to as a female fantasy come to life, not just because of its hunky leading man but also because the love scenes focus so much on female pleasure.

'Elite'

It wasn’t just back in the day though that people were having passionate affairs, the elite have always used their spare time and privilege to pursue sexual pleasure and when you throw a bunch of privileged teenagers at one of Spain’s most elite private schools into the mix, you’re bound to get quite an education in graphic gay sex, straight sex and everything in between. The show also has a murder mystery running through it while dealing with issues like class and inequality, but let’s face it, most of the tension is sexual tension.

‘365 Days’

‘365 Days’ may have received a lot of flak considering the premise is around non-consensual sex. After all, the film is about a woman who is kidnapped and given 365 days to fall in love with her kidnapper. But criticism or not, the sex scenes have become famous or rather infamous for their levels of the sheer sizzle factor.

'365 Days' stars Anna Maria Sieklucka and Michele Morrone (IMDB)

‘Dark Desire’

‘Dark Desire’ doesn’t leave much doubt as to just what vein this series follows. The Mexican series follows the story of a married woman who after a passionate weekend that ends in tragedy starts to question those closest to her. Some reports have described the show as Mexican Fornication Fest.

'Dark Desire' stars Maite Perroni (Netflix)

'Below Her Mouth'

Below Her Mouth centers around the passionate and unexpected love affair that changes two women's lives forever after they develop a heart-stopping connection. While the film was criticized by some for being significantly short on the drama quotient, the sex scenes were definitely not below par in the film which sees a straight woman fall in love with another woman.

'Below Her Mouth' stars Natalie Krill and Erika Linder (IMDB)

'Sex Education'

Teens and their sex lives not surprisingly make for a great premise for any sexy show. With 'Sex Education', the title pretty much educates you right off the bat what you have to look forward to. The show centers around the son of a sex therapist, Otis (played by Asa Butterfield), who decides to start an underground sex therapy clinic with one of the most well-versed girls in school and uses his own skillset to help people with their relationships and ultimately helps himself get over his own sexual frustrations as well.

'Weeds'

'Weeds' shows that it’s not just the young and the fabulous and perfectly coiffed who are having the time of their lives. In this dark comedy, Nancy Botwin is a widowed mother of two who is trying to make some extra money by selling weed in her suburban neighborhood, while also dealing with a number of problematic relationships. However, even in the midst of all her troubles or perhaps because of them, she loves sex and she's certainly not apologetic about it.

Mary Louise Parker stars in 'Weeds' (IMDB)

'MILF'

It's not always entire series that can build up the steamy factor. Take 'MILF' for example. Again the title pretty much says it all, as three best friends from the South of France navigate love, loss and heartbreak in their forties. They get over it, though by having lots of sex with much younger men, and as an added bonus there's a lot of hilarity that ensues.

'MILF' stars Virginie Ledoyen, Marie Josee Croze and Axelle Laffont (IMDB)

'Sense 8'

'Sense 8' may have been canceled much to the disappointment of its legions of fans, but one orgy scene in particular on 'Sense 8' has gone down as the stuff of legend. The show by the Wachowski sisters included a whole plethora of complex LGBTQ characters which came under some fire for being unrealistic but it certainly wasn't ever criticized for not being sexy enough.

'Sense 8' stars Alfonso Herrera and Miguel Angel Silvestre (IMDB)

'The Naked Director'

Perhaps we can't round off a list of steamy movies without mentioning the series 'The Naked Director' about Toru Muranishi, the provocative director of Japanese adult films and how he revolutionized the adult entertainment industry in Japan during the economic boom in the '80s.

'The Naked Director' stars Takayuki Yamada (Netflix)

For those of you who haven't caught the steamy new sexy drama series 'Sex/Life', the Sarah Shahi starter premiered on Netflix on June 25.
