MANCHESTER, UK: ‘The Circle' is unlike any reality show; it brings together a diverse group of players who must strategize and form alliances to avoid being “catfished." Through digital profiles, contestants battle it out in challenges to win the adoration of their peers and the chance to be crowned “influencer” - a title that grants them the power to banish a rival from the game.

Challenges will put them to the test as they vie for popularity votes from the other castmates. This season’s lineup of singles is sizzling, and they are all hungry for a connection. For the first time, the contenders are all looking for love, which could make the competition even more exciting and unpredictable. The new season will give viewers an opportunity to spot contestants from all walks of life, including ASL performer Raven Sutton. So for those wondering about who she is, here is everything we know about ‘The Circle’ Season 5 participant.

Who is Raven Sutton?

Originally from Alabama, Raven Sutton is a deaf social worker who will enter the show with her BFF and interpreter, Paris. She has made waves in the ASL performance world, with her TikTok of an ASL translation of Megan thee Stallion and Cardi B’s song 'Break My Soul' being recognized by none other than Beyonce and even being featured in an article alongside translator Matthew Maxey. The soon-to-be reality star is a third-generation Deaf who interprets at concerts and music festivals.

Raven graduated from Gallaudet University with both a Bachelor’s and a Master's in Social Work. During her time at the university, she also served as a Peer Advisor. In 2017, she ventured over to Haiti to work as a dance instructor at the Institut of Montfort Pour Enfants Sourds for a year. After completing her time at the Institute, Raven began exploring different industries, eventually leading her to her spot in the spotlight on 'The Circle'.

Since 2020, this disability consultant has been striving to create a more inclusive world for those with disabilities. She has been providing businesses and local organizations with her expertise, so they can develop effective strategies for disabled people. According to her LinkedIn profile, in 2021, she was involved with Twitter, offering her services as an educational consultant to aid in making the social media platform more accessible to the deaf community.

As per her LinkedIn bio, “Raven began working as a Survivor Resource Specialist for Deaf, Domestic, and Sexual Violence Survivors at Deaf Dawn located in Washington DC. However, work never stops for Raven, she is also an advocate for the deaf community in addition to being a content creator.” Her mission is to make sure everyone can benefit from the world, no matter their physical abilities. Currently, she is a senior survivor resource specialist at Deaf Dawn, a culturally responsive and survivor-centric non-profit organization. Her content has also been documented by the New York Times.

To spread awareness, Raven advised once in an Instagram post, “One thing I want to tell hearing parents who born Deaf or HoH child… the world will already criticize and oppress your child. It will happen. Know that the world is not a nice place. But you make sure you do everything you can to support your Deaf/HoH child. Learn their language. Be their biggest supporters. Don’t be another person who oppress and criticize them because they are Deaf. They have a purpose in this world. They will make a difference in their own way. That’s on PERIOD!”

Catch Raven Sutton in ‘The Circle’ Season 5, available to stream on Netflix on December 28.
