'The Bachelorette' 2022: Jason's family expresses concern over his future with Gabby
NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA: Gabby Windey picked Jason Alabaster for a one-on-one date in Paris on 'The Bachelorette' Season 19, and he proved to be an excellent match for her. They are now on their way to his hometown to meet his family, one of whom expresses grave fears about the couple's future.
Jason, a 30-year-old investment banker from Memphis, Tennessee, is one of the season's more reserved contestants. "He's my type," Gabby said after seeing him on the first night. Gabby explained that she chose Jason for the one-on-one date in Paris because he is really shy, and she wanted to wait until he felt comfortable enough to open up to her. She mentioned that he is a guy of few words, which was one of the things that drew her to him. Gabby revealed in her 'The Bachelorette' confessional that she wants him to attempt to get out of his shell a little more on this date.

Jason and Gabby had a grand old time on their Paris date — they went beret shopping, rode a carousel, and ended their day out with a romantic dinner. During dinner, Jason confided in Gabby about how he utilizes therapy to cope with past life experiences. The chat pleasantly surprised Gabby, and they connected over their fears and how they cope with them. Gabby gave Jason the rose at the end of the date and told him she loved him, "I don't just want to give you a rose. I want to give you that belief that this could go somewhere."
Gabby's experience on 'The Bachelorette' has had its ups and downs, but her date with Jason is without a doubt one of the highlights. They share personality traits such as taking their time opening up, but once they do, they are ready to give their relationships their best. Through counseling, they have both discovered more about themselves and sought to heal the pain they have encountered in the past. Jason and Gabby have a greater understanding of each other, but it is now time for our Bachelorette to carve out a place for herself in his family.
According to the preview for this season's homecoming episode, which will premiere on August 22, things begin well for the women, with Gabby exclaiming, "I'm so excited to meet families and deepen our connections." Rachel agrees, telling the cameras, that it "feels like a taste of the future." That's a future Zach wants to be a part of, as he confesses to the pilot, "I'm in love with you, Rachel."
Meanwhile, Erich acknowledges, "It's scary to open up and show someone my entire world," while Gabby admits that she's "terrified because I know how much I have to lose." That appears to be Jason's family's concern as well, as a woman reminds him through tears, "It’s important to keep in mind what would it be like without her?"
Who gets the hometown dates with Gabby?
Gabby now only has three precious hometown dates. Gabby bestowed the prized Hometown roses on Jason, Erich, and Johnny. It's the first time in recent memory that a Bachelorette's potential final four has been reduced to a final three. Kaitlyn Bristowe's season in 2015 was the last time a Bachelorette was due to see only three families. While Kaitlyn's production was obliged to stay in Ireland, Gabby will be touring the United States.
Gabby meets Erich for a hometown date in Bedminster for her first hometown date. During their stay, the charming couple visits Natirar Park and Erich's family's home. Jason is up next! He and Gabby are in New Orleans for a hometown date. On their date, Gabby and Jason explore the French Quarter, wander past Jackson Square, and throw beads out the balcony at Saints and Sinners, as per Steve Carbone — aka Reality Steve, the ultimate Bachelor/ette know-it-all. Finally, Gabby travels to Jupiter, Florida, for a hometown date with Johnny. The pair spends a lovely afternoon at Jupiter Beach Park before heading to his parents' home in North Palm Beach.
How do you think Gabby's meeting with Jason's folks will turn out? Tune in to ABC on Monday, August 22 at 8 p.m. EST for a brand-new episode of 'The Bachelorette' Season 19.
