'Sweet Night': BTS V's first solo OST makes him most topped iTunes artist, fans praise 'hardwork'

The K-drama OST tops iTunes in 119 countries with only one country left to achieve an all-kill

If his streak continues, BTS’ V aka Kim Taehyung just might become the most popular person on this planet. Just a day ago, he became the fastest person to reach 40 million Instagram followers in the platform’s history and is the most followed Korean male celebrity. He also has two entries in the Guinness World Records for getting 1 million and 10 million Instagram followers under 5 hours of opening his Instagram account. And now even his song is making iTunes history.

V got a chance to sing his first solo OST (original soundtrack) in ‘Itaewon Class’. It was extra special since it was his friend, Park Seo-joon’s K-drama. The BTS star ended up singing his self-composed song ‘Sweet Night’. Well, the track has gone on to break records to become one of the most popular K-drama OSTs. Just a couple of months after its release in 2020, V became the first male soloist to have a song with 100 #1s on iTunes. Well, he has now extended that record and more.

V extends his record for the most #1s on iTunes

Apart from topping several major Korean charts, V’s ‘Sweet Night’ continued to make waves internationally as the OST debuted at #2 on Billboard Digital Song Sales Chart and even appeared on Billboard Hot 100. And now, on April 22, the BTS member’s first solo song just topped iTunes in its 119th country which happened to be Venezuela. This makes V the first and youngest artist in the world to have the most #1s for a song in iTunes history. Only one country is left on the iTunes platform for ‘Sweet Night’ to get to the top and achieve an all-kill (get #1 on the chart in most countries).

‘The best OST ever'

Happy fans have gone on to trend ‘Top Record Holder V’ as they made tweets like, “Sweet night...the best ost ever.  without any promotions the song reached many listeners, it's all for your hardwork. Congratulations Taehyung!” Another ARMY posted, “The most #1 on itunes for a solo song by an artist IKTR.” One was impressed, “Only Promotion It got             Impact it made.” Another fan commented, “All hail the Queen Sweet Night.” One ARMY added, “Woww ..Congratulations Taehyung 🥳Sweet night my comfort song achieving so many records makes me so happy 💜 it will always be the Standard.” With V’s next OST ‘Christmas Tree’ quickly climbing up the charts, one fan joked, “She saw how all the attention has been on CT and said.” Another pointed out, “The way Taehyung didn't think of ranks just wanted us to get healed while listening to Sweet Night but look at him now being the first artist in history achieving 119th #1 with this song! The way it healed us! So proud of him!”
