'Our Beloved Summer': BTS V to sing OST for friend Choi Woosik's K-drama

BTS V and Choi Woo-sik are part of the Wooga Squad along with Park Seo-joon, Park Hyung-shik and Peakboy

After Jin, we are getting another BTS OST (original soundtrack). We first had the smashing hit ‘Yours’ which was sung by the eldest member of BTS for the K-drama, ‘Jirisan’. Jin broke several records with 'Yours' as he became the first BTS member to top Gaon Download Chart. It also entered the iTunes Top Songs Chart in 97 countries. It also topped the iTunes Worldwide Song Chart for three days in a row and became the fastest Korean OST sung by a soloist to reach 5 million Spotify streams. The song also charted at #5 for a week straight on Billboard’s Hot Trending Songs Chart. And so, expectations are high for V’s OST.

With the global impact of K-pop and BTS, we are getting more collaborations among different industries. We first had SF9’s Rowoon singing the OST for his K-drama ‘The King’s Affection’ followed by Astro’s Eunwoo releasing an OST for the web-novel, ‘Under The Oak Tree’. Well, the much-talked-about upcoming K-drama, ‘Our Beloved Summer’ is also getting the K-pop OST treatment. Starring Choi Woo-sik and Kim Da-mi, the rom-com will have an OST sung by none other than Kim Taehyung aka BTS’ V.

BTS V to sing OST for 'Our Beloved Summer'

On November 25, it was reported that BTS V had been included in the lineup for the OSTs of ‘Our Beloved Summer’. The new SBS K-drama is based on a webtoon and is a coming of age romantic drama that chronicles the relationship of a high school couple that reconciles after the documentary that they had shot in school suddenly becomes viral. It should be noted that both Choi Woo-sik and V are part of the Wooga Squad which consists of the co-stars of the popular 2017 K-drama ‘Hwarang’. 

And V has shown his loyalty again and again as he was first featured in the OST of Park Seo-joon’s 2020 K-drama ‘Itaewon Class’ followed by the reunion at Choi Woo-sik’s fan meeting in July 2021. The BTS member also had a fun cameo in Peakboy’s music video ‘Gyopo Hairstyle’ along with the rest of the Wooga Squad. And now, he is set to sing his second solo OST for Woo-sik’s K-drama. With the remaining member of the squad, Park Hyung-shik starring in the ongoing K-drama, ‘Happiness’, fans wonder if V’s next solo project will be with him.

‘V OST is coming’

Excited ARMY have been trending ‘Taehyung OST’ as they made tweets like, “Sweet night and taehyung ost,” “JIN OST  TAEHYUNG OST will definitely save our 2021,” and “WE’RE GETTING A NEW TAEHYUNG OST WE WON.” Another fan shared, “'Music director nam heeseung said that the song was written with V in mind from the planning stage of the OST' They really make the song for him only what if it’s a main ost and taehyung take participate in the making of the song? V OST IS COMING.”
