In the sixth episode, we saw the tribes compete in the Merge Challenge. The Green tribe has only two members left, Yellow Tribe with four members and the strongest tribe Blue has never gone to the Tribal council. Before the Merge challenge, host Jeff Probst secretly told the audience that this isn't a regular merger and that there's going to be a big twist at the end. All the players had to pick colored rocks to get split into two teams for the game with two players who pick grey rocks having to sit out the challenge. The winners will earn the right to a large feast, will get their merge buff and will not have to compete in the immunity challenge with the opposite for the losing team. The fate of the two other members will be decided by the winners.
The Blue Team won and Erika and Naseer's fate was left in their hands. Choosing Naseer sent Erika to Exile Island where she would be alone for two days and nights. The twist came with Jeff visiting her later and informing her about the power she received. Presenting an hourglass filled with black sand to her, he tells her that she can reverse the outcome of the game with the results of the last challenge being reversed. Erika overjoyed and confused has until the next morning to make her decision.
While it was a huge twist, fans of the show are not happy with the new developments in the new season saying the show has lost its essence. Going online they shared their opinions. This is how fans reacted.
A fan commented, "I’m devastated with the direction #survivor decided to take season 41. I’ve geeked out over this show since day one and there’s a reason why its lasted for 20 years. Too much change is never good and I think I’m officially done with it. Any other Survivor fans agree?.. UGH." Another user said, "Jfc #Survivor is so bad this season". A viewer said, "The worst kind of seasons are the ones like 41 where the cast is really really good but dumb confusing twists are ruining it i just want to see them be able to play normally #survivor ".
