KYOTO, JAPAN: 'Sunny', streaming on Apple TV+, is a refreshing series that blends AI with mystery and dark humor to tell the gripping tale of a woman on a mission to unravel the mysteries surrounding her husband and son's disappearance.

It features Rashida Jones in the lead role of Suzie Sakamoto, who is gifted an advanced robot by her husband's colleague Yuki Tanaka (Hidetoshi Nishijima).

Suzie isn't fond of robots as she believes that the self-driving car caused her mother's death. And therefore, she keeps a safe distance from her new robot named Sunny.

Later, when bartender Mixxy (annie the clumsy) tells Suzie that robots are capable of murder, she decides to get rid of Sunny.

In 'Sunny' Episode 1, she puts the robot into sleep mode, wraps it up, and tries to throw it in the river. However, unable to tip him off the bridge, she abandons it and returns home.

Suzie wakes up in shock to find Sunny back inside the home, ready to serve her cookies. As she rushes to hit it, Sunny makes a kiss gesture that her husband Masa used to make.

It is the same gesture Masa (Hidetoshi Nishijima) made when Suzie last saw him at the airport.

Overwhelmed with emotions, she asks Sunny to keep doing it. Sunny then says, "Don't you see Suzie, I was programmed for you."

Eventually, Suzie finds unusual companionship in Sunny. The robot not only offers help to find the truth about Masa, but it also comforts Suzie as she has trouble sleeping alone.

Two episodes of 'Sunny' are now streaming on Apple TV+
