Fans of Stray Kids know that all of the members are quite friendly with other artists, while their leader Bang Chan knows everybody. He has trained with Monsta X’s Shownu, is still in touch with GOT7’s Bambam, looks up to Sunmi, is close with AB6IX and BTOB’s Peniel, and more. When Stray Kids participated in the survival show ‘Kingdom’, they got close to all of the participating groups like Ateez, BTOB, and The Boyz.

And thanks to TikTok, we have gotten a new promotional strategy in which groups release challenges related to their new releases. They then rope in their idol friends to do these TikTok challenges with them. We had Jeon Somi roping in former JYPE labelmates TWICE to do her ‘Dumb Dumb’ challenge with her, while the GOT7 members have done TikTok challenges with members from IZ*ONE, Monsta X, TVXQ, Red Velvet, and more.

Bambam reveals why he didn’t do a TikTok with Bang Chan

And while GOT7 left JYPE, they are still close with the label’s artists like 2PM and Stray Kids. This is why during a fansign, one fan asked Bambam why he had not yet asked Stray Kids or Bang Chan to do a TikTok challenge with him. To this Bambam shared, “To do a challenge with the idols from old company [JYPE], it's quite hard to do. Sometimes they allow to do but sometimes they don't.  I'm considerate to the old company because I already left that company. I didn't have spiteful thought.”

However, with other JYPE artists like 2PM, TWICE and Itzy having done TikTok challenges, collaborations and more with artists from other labels, Stray Kids and GOT7 fans are angry at JYPE. It had been reported that GOT7 left JYPE in the first place because the group was being mistreated and was stopped from accepting several gigs that would further their careers. With fans believing that history is repeating with Stray Kids, they have called out JYPE for mistreatment. Meanwhile, GOT7 fans feel that JYPE resents them and so are not allowing Stray Kids and GOT7 to interact.

'Why are they doing this'

Angry fans ended up trending JYPE as they showed their indignation. One fan tweeted, “Me to jype rn for not allowing bambam to do his tiktok challenges with twice and channie cause he's out of the company already WHAT FCKIN EXCUSE IS THAT SRLY.” A Stray Kids fan posted, “Knowing dpr squad wants to collab with skz and chan likes them + their music. and the only issue is jype screening who can collab with their artists. that is a different kind of hell.” A GOT7 fan felt, “Its 2022 and jype stans still havent learnt that this kinda stuff only happens when got7 is involved and that the company has issues with got7 not the other groups.”

Another Stay posted, “No because i noticed that from all other jype artists skz are the only ones who i havent seen do a tiktok chanllenge woth other groups which is ridiculous considering they have so many idol friends.” One fan commented, “JYPE is such a joke Company. Why are they doing this?” Another wondered about JYPE’s reasons, “No one knows why, but it might not be as simple as "having fun with their friends". It's all about business. One stream to another idol's song, the money (which isn't that much anyway) will end up in another company's wallet. Maybe jype is one thats quite stingy in this regard.”
