'Stranger Things' Season 5: Is Jonathan the one who will die in the finale?
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Netflix's fantasy series 'Stranger Things' is ready for its final lap and fans cannot wait until the finale drops. Though the series has become one of the most beloved shows, there have been some complaints. In fact, it has been one of the major complains that no major character has yet died even after being in several near-death experiences.
And sometimes the series even diluted the emotional response over Jim Hopper's (David Harbour) death in season 3 by bringing him back in season 4.
Season 4 of 'Stranger Things' ended with Vecna showing his true face and starting his finale act in Hawkins. This has made the group in Hawkins more vulnerable than ever, and it is up to Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) to save the place and her friends. On the other hand, Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) is in danger as the whole story started with Will being abducted to the Upside Down. And there has been a lingering connection between Will and the Upside Down, which can be seen throughout the series, and which led to the speculation that Will might actually die in the final season. But instances from the previous seasons of 'Stranger Things' has probably set up things for the death of Will's big brother Jonathan Byers (Charlie Heaton) instead. Let us take a look.

Is Eduardo Franco's Argyle needed in 'Stranger Things' Season 5?
Jonathen Byers across the seasons
Jonathan Byers has not been the same person as we saw him in previous seasons. Though we were able to see him being a shy kid in high school to protecting his brother Will on multiple ocassions and dating Nancy Wheeler (Natalia Dyer), he has been through a lot in a short span of time. During the recent season, the whole family of Jonathan, including Eleven has moved to Lenora Hills, California. Jonathan is now a senior in Lenora Hills High School, where Will and Eleven attend. And Season 4 has seen Jonathan geting high with his friend Argyle (Eduardo Franco), who works as a delivery boy at the Surfer Boy Pizza. During most of the time in season 4, Jonathan seemed unfocused in general, as a result of being constantly under the influence. Jonathan's relationship with Nancy has started to get strained. Though he was barely present during the intense roller coaster ride of most part of the season, Jonathan sure tried his best to help the gang. He even had the heart-to-heart with Will Byers, and which can be considered as a redemption of his behavior in the last season.
Is Jonathan Byers the one?
If season 4 has hinted anything for the grand finale, it is that Will Byers is now in extreme danger more than ever. And from the first season itself, we were able to see clearly that Jonathan is the one who took the role of Will's protector and tried to keep him safe. Jonathan is the one who gave Will the emotional support he needed during their separation and he is the one who never gave up on Will when everyone else thought he was dead in the first season. Jonathan gathered the courage and set out to explore the Upside Down. So, it is safe to say that when Will faces the ultimate threat from Vecna, Jonathan will surely be in the frontline, doing everything he can to protect his little brother. Though Jonathan does not possess any powers like Eleven, there is a strong chance of him losing his life in the final battle. And as he has been neglecting everything in season 4, a guilt-ridden Jonathan sacrificing himself to save Will and Hawkins is a more plausible thing to happen in the final season.
