'Chelsea's accent sounds like she keeps forgetting she's bri-ish' joked a fan

If you binged watched Season 5 of 'Selling Sunset', then you know for a fact that the cast did not hold back when it came to calling out Christine Quinn. No matter what she did, say or didn't know, everyone was quick to point fingers at her, regardless of the time and place.

Among all the chaos, one person stood by her, defending her against what certainly looked like bullying. New cast member Chelsea Lazkani was certainly Team Christine, but then again, noted that she was not ready to go down with a sinking ship when it came to their friendship.

For those of you wondering, Chelsea joined Season 5 as a possible new realtor with the Oppenheim Group. She and Christine became fast friends, with Christine being the one to vouch for when she met with Jason. Chelsea, who is a British Nigerian, lived and worked in the UK, before coming to the USA, six years ago. Here, she met her husband and settled down. However, according to fans, her accent sounded questionable at best. 

"Chelsea's accent sounds like she keeps forgetting she's bri-ish #SellingSunset" tweeted a fan. "Lol I'm sorry but Chelsea's accent on Selling Sunset sounds like the fake accent we do on spring break. #sellingsunsets5 #SellingSunset" added another. "Chelsea sounds like a Brit who is trying to sound like an American with a British accent #SellingSunset DAFUQ. Gorgeous girl tho!" noted another. "Everyone is saying it's cause she's Nigerian British. Y'all dk what ur talking abt. UK diaspora babes have a specific accent. Chelsea sounds like an American faking an Australian accent #SellingSunset" tweeted a fan. "Thank the lawd Chelsea's accent is starting to settle dow. what was initially coming out of her mouth was confusing af to me. And that's coming from a Brit and Nigerian who's accent is confused most days #sellingsunsets5 #SellingSunset" agreed another.

But not everyone was on the same page with regard to this discourse, as some fans defended Chelsea's accent. "y'all hating on Chelsea for her accent is so dumb. why would she lie about being from london? also she lived in the US for 6 years now, her accent is obviously not going to sound the same as when she was in London #SellingSunset" tweeted a fan. "#SellingSunset the dragging of Chelsea's accent is odd, did no one else hear her say her mother works in corporate America? would her choppy accent not be due to a possible back and forth UK to US?" stated another. "Ok accent aside, we've had Chelsea for one day and she's already one of my favs of the #SellingSunset girls" tweeted a fan.
