'Scream VI': Ghostface returns to terrorize New York City in anxiety-inducing first trailer

The first teaser trailer for 'Scream VI' is finally out and Ghostface is set to terrorize New York City again

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Scream' is one of the most iconic film franchises of all time and has been responsible for several iconic moments over the years. The first movie in the franchise turned out to be successful, while the next three movies in the series were moderately successful. Earlier this year, we saw the revival of the franchise with the fifth movie, "Scream," and it gave viewers a fresh perspective on the thrilling with some of the original cast members returning. However, "Scream" fans got an early Christmas present as the first teaser trailer for "Scream VI" has finally been released, and it has undoubtedly created a lot of interest. 

The teaser starts with people dressed as fictional characters. It seems the clip shows that it's Halloween time and everyone is dressed as their favorite characters. The trailer moves forward with the movie's main character traveling by train while being surrounded by people dressed as various characters. Sam Carpenter (Melissa Barrera) looks scared as she sees a lot of people donning the costume of "Ghostface." However, things turn even more dangerous when one of the people dressed as Ghostface continues to stare at them.

Sam and her half-sister Tara Carpenter (Jenna Ortega), along with a couple of friends, start feeling nervous as the lights on the train started to fluctuate frequently. The killer, Ghostface, continues to move forward toward the group and tries killing Mindy Meeks-Martin (Jasmin Savoy Brown).

"In a city of millions, no one hears you scream," appears throughout the trailer.

In the movie, we see Melissa Barrera reprising the role of Sam Carpenter and Courtney Cox as Gale Weathers. Meanwhile, "Wednesday" star Jenna Ortega will be seen playing the role of Tara Carpenter in the film. Other actors to feature in the movie include Mason Gooding, Hayden Panettiere, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Dermot Mulroney, Henry Czerny, Samara Weaving, and Tony Revolori.

The fifth film in the franchise turned out to be a gigantic hit and received positive reviews from critics as well as audiences. On the other hand, the film was also a commercial box-office success, as it earned more than $140 million over the $24 million production budget.

On the other hand, the franchise had racked up more than $740 million at the box office.

"Scream VI" is scheduled to hit theatres on March 13, 2023.
