BEVERLY HILLS, CALIFORNIA: 'The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' newbie, Annemarie Wiley opened up about "racism" she encountered online as a Black woman. She shared a picture by the caricature artist known as 'Drunk Drawn' and condemned the depiction, stating, "Drawing a Black woman as a gorilla is disgusting and completely unacceptable!"
The artist, known for creating illustrations based on the drama of the show, drew a picture that did not sit well with Annemarie. In her post, she emphasized the severity of the situation, labeling it as "Racism and cyberbullying."
Annemarie, a former collegiate athlete, detailed the challenges she has faced, stating, "In case anyone wants to understand the level that I’ve been dealing with… here you go."
"I am proud of the muscles and body that I have earned. I am proud to show all young girls that you don’t need to be a size zero to love your body and feel worthy. That you can be strong, athletic, and proud of yourself," Annemarie emphasized.
The reality TV star sees herself as a "role model" for girls and women who don't fit the "model mold."
She strongly criticizes the artist who drew her, stating, "Drawing a black woman as a gorilla is disgusting and completely unacceptable! Black women are strong and beautiful. Throughout history, black women have been villainized as combative, aggressive, angry, dangerous, and 'animalistic' at every opportunity!"
Responding to the racist drawing, Annemarie expressed, "This is nothing compared to microaggressions and name calling…This is an entirely different level of RACISM and HATRED!"
She added, "I am a mother. I take care of people for a living. There is a kind-hearted human with feelings, children, and a REAL life behind the snippets you see on a reality TV show."
The TV personality concluded her post with a firm statement, "Enough of the racism and enough of the cyberbullying. Shame on you, drunk-drawn."
