'Red Rose' on Netflix: How Jaya's persistence and insight save the day for the ‘Dickheads’ against perilous app

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: BBC Three's original 'Red Rose' is set to make its international debut on Netflix on February 15, 2023. This horror-thriller series is set in Bolton, UK, and follows a group of friends whose lives turn upside down with the entry of a mysterious, deadly app. 'Red Rose' tries to present the horrors that come with the advancement of technology.
The story of 'Red Rose' begins at the end of the exams in high school. Rochelle (Isis Hainsworth), the unofficial head of the friends' group 'Dickheads', receives a mysterious link to an app named 'Red Rose'. As she is alone and hurt at the time of receiving the link, Rochelle convinces herself to use the app, unaware of the sinister chaos it is about to bring. Rochelle dies because of Red Rose and the rest of the members of the Dickheads try to find the one responsible for her death. And when Wren (Amelia Clarkson), the best friend of Rochelle, receives the link to Red Rose, she downloads it, hoping to find the truth behind Rochelle's death. But things are not as simple as it seems as the Red Rose starts to haunt the lives of all members of the Dickheads and their loved ones. With no clue as to how to face the crisis created by Red Rose, the gang is saved by the entry of the intelligent Jaya Mahajan (Ashna Rabheru).

Who is Jaya Mahajan?
Jaya Mahajan is an intelligent and smart woman, who is extremely good with computer codes. She does not have a great rapport with the Dickheads, especially Rochelle. She attends a coding club in Manchester, where Jacob (Charlie Hiscock) previously attended. Jacob had recently killed himself, and when the Dickheads accidentally mention the name of 'Red Rose' in public, Jaya connects the dots in a breakthrough moment. She recalls that Jacob had carved several roses on his desk and Jaya suspects Jacob's death might be connected to the app. She is the one that reaches out to the Dickheads, and they begin to investigate Jacob's home.
How did Jaya's insight save the gang?
Jaya introduces the group to the concept of the dark web. She is also the one to find out that Red Rose is more than an app and that it is actually a website, and there are several players playing a deadly live version of a video game where they manipulate and blackmail individuals. There are several watchers in the audience who enjoy this game. When the rest of the Dickheads are convinced that The Gardner (Head of Red Rose) is Simon, the boyfriend of Wren's mother, Jaya with her instinct continues her research and reveals that Simon is just a player. Further, Jaya, through a series of research, finds the truth about Jacob being the creator of Red Rose and that they are still active. She helps her friends by logging in to Red Rose with Jacob's ID, and when Red Rose finds out about this, they set Jaya's house on fire, trapping Jaya. However, Jaya escapes and continues to help her friends remotely. She successfully wipes out the entire Red Rose platform at the end.
If not for Jaya, the defenseless 'Dickheads' would have succumbed to the perils of 'Red Rose' without any suspicion. Her timely appearance not only saved the lives of Dickheads but also exposed the truth about the Red Rose.
